Thats the way I feel. Don't get me wrong, Jackie Cooper's Perry was funny and lively. But I have never given a damn about Perry White as a character. Maybe Fishburn will bring something else to the character. I'll be anxious to see.

One thing people have to understand is that Superman is one of those characters that is universal. We all share Superman. He's not just for little geeky white boys who buy comic books. I believe Batman has done well with people of color because Morgan Freeman's Lucious Fox is sorta like a mentor and father figure along with Michael Cain.

Hell maybe Fishburn's Perry will be like Morpheus was to Neo or Fox is with Wayne. Either way its good this cast has some diversity. WB isn't stupid either they are trying to woo black audiences that loved Fishburn in the Matrix.

Why couldn't the Kents be black?

I believe their are tons of mid western blacks living on farms or in rural mid west communities with humble christian values that could love and raise a white baby just orphaned. Raising him to be an upstanding citizen.

Think about if Clair and Cliff Huxstable found Kal El. I think he'd be raised all right.

Ha. I just got through watching an episode of CSI where Laurence chokes a guy with one hand until he passed out. He was explaining the choke hold he had placed the man in and what was happening to him as he was passing out. One of the more bad-A things I've seen in a while.

At the time, when I watched it, I really thought ... wow JE Jones could really be the black equivalent of Perry, ... a sort of father figure with a "stern" attitude to "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" ... and I kind of warmed to the idea when I first saw the episode.

I don't see why some people are choosing to moan about this. I think it's a wonderful idea.

As someone from an ethnic minority, I must say I wouldn't want a black Superman, as the image of what superman looks like to me and many people has kind of been engraved for 70 odd years. But making the supporting cast a bit more cultured would go a long way to show that they really ARE modernising the saga.

Its funny Fishburnes casting has met less opposition than Cavill's as Superman.

Skin colour has nothing to do with being the right man for the job. I'm a huge Bond fan. When daniel craig was cast I went ape ****. He's blonde! Bond isn't blonde... Then I watched him in action. Daniel craig is james bond. His hair color had nothing to do with it. perry being black isn't an issue he may be the right man for the job.
