I think for 2014 it will most likely be Ant-Man for the first and Captain America for the second.

Agreed. If Marvel wants to sustain 2 movies per summer they will need to do 1 sequel and 1 new movie. Ant Man and Doc Strange seem to be the front runners, though I don't know if its wise for either of them to come out just two weeks after Spider-Man.

Two summer movies are fine but I think they should start having one spring or winter releases as well

Those are my best bets too, though I see them putting Cap in May to counter Sony's ASM. Ant-Man wouldn't survive Spider Man even with a 2 week window. FOX will also have a film out that summer, either Daredevil or Fantastic Four, which I'm guessing they'll place in July. Should be an interesting Summer.

I'm most excited about the prospect of seeing new characters on the big screen. Ant-Man's been in production hell for 4 years, so it'll be great to finally see The Pyms in a movie. Hopefully 2015 will give us Black Panther & Doctor Strange. I really want BP & The Pyms to be introduced to the MCU in solo films before Avengers 2.

The only reason Cap would be the second is because it is near the 4th of July

I don't see them putting Ant-Man, an unknown character, just 2 weeks after ASM. Cap stands a better chance of holding his own with that 2 week window (he was able to defeat Harry Potter's 2nd weekend). If Marvel drops Ant-Man in May, they're basically pulling another TIH & drowning it in ASM's BO reign.

Ant-Man's got a finished script & a director, plus 4 years of development. Like Thor in 2010, I think its finally ready for lift off. Doc Strange has no script yet, no director & I think only began development recently.

Why didn't Marvel claim a late July date? That date worked for Captain America and has worked well for the Batmans (Batmen?)

Ant-Man has a director but the script isn't finished and Marvel's in no rush. Dr. Strange has no director, but the script is finished and Marvel has put a lot of momentum behind it for years and is actively looking for directors now.

Much as I want to see Wright's Ant-Man, I think Dr. Strange is what's getting the push now.

mr jinx, I think FOX quietly claimed a spot for one of their CBMs that month. Could be Daredevil, could be Fantastic Four. We'll probably get an announcement soon since their next CBM property - The Wolverine, goes into production in October. My best guess is David Slade's Daredevil.

Interesting. And so that means WB quietly missed the boat again? It would be crazy if there were 5 superhero movies that summer. At least there should be a good DC animated DTV movie.

There's no way Cap's date isn't June 27th.

And Docter Strange does have a finished script. Ant-Man's isn't finished. It was another draft but not the final one like Dr. Strange. Where are you getting your info from?

They chose that date to get the July 4th boost.

Sure but they could have taken the June date and a July date instead of May. The May date just seems cannibalistic being so close to Spidey.

It's not close to spidey. It's two weeks after. It will be fine. Some of you are overreacting.

Why would Ant-man get a summer release date?

He's D-list.

For some reason Marvel think an Ant-man movie can succeed. At this point, I don't think so. Ant-man has always been better with a team than without.

Did Kevin Feige call you and tell you that? ; )

Nowhere in that article does it say the script they turned in was approved. So basically both the Ant-Man & Doc Strange scripts are still pending the greenlight for production. The difference being that Wright's signed to direct & has already done several revisions to the script. Doc Strange needs a director - that when signed, will probably make his own revisions to the script, further prolonguing the time until the film actually goes into production.

There is a rumor now that Bendict Cumberpatch is up for a future Marvel Studios role. I think he looks loke he could be a good Doctor Strange. Hopefully.

It's two weeks after Spidey and fairly close to Memorial Day. That will boost it.

Ew. He's just one of those actors that I can't really look at for too long without being creeped out.
