Let's hope this means ImageWorks is completely out.

I was hoping for Digital Domain myself, but Double Negative has a fairly extensive body of work that is suitable for this scale. My only (small) gripe is I always find even their best stuff to be slightly noticeable as CGI, whilst still being technically impressive. ILM and WETA have very often crossed the border of awe-inspiring and unbelievable visual effects. But that's pinching pennies at this point. I wanted a capable studio, and it seems we have one.

Apart from the natural disasters and alien invaders that we'll most likely see Superman face and conquer in the film, i really want to see Superman go up against some modern day criminals, realistic looking ones, just to reinforce the idea of placing Superman into a realistic looking world.

I've always wanted to see Superman really scare the **** out of so many criminals in terms of them realizing that they can't beat this guy period. No sneak attacks, no hidden bazooka, and not even being able to run away from him in the midst of a smoke or something.

I like the part from Birthright where he fires a gun at that crook only to catch it right in front of his face. Something like that would be awesome and put Supes in a fresh light.

And to Double Negative. The dragon in Deathly Hallows part II is a WOW!

Agreed, and I remember seeing that incident surprisingly happen on LnC first between Superman and Lex.

The interesting thing about Superman is that unlike most heroes, Superman has the ability to accomplish so much in such a short amount of time when it comes to dealing with Earth Based problems, especially criminal activities.

I mean, while you would see other heroes struggle to deal with criminal organizations that have a huge amount of weaponry aiding them, Superman could easily dispose of them very easily.

If criminals are afraid of Batman, then it's realistic to assume that they should be just as much afraid of encountering Superman during their raids, because Superman is not only invulnerable, but he could literally throw them across the city.

Just to give people a context of how awesome this is (because I had no idea what else they'd done until I looked it up), these are the people that dealt with:

- Inception
- Captain America
- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows pt 2
- Iron Man 2
- Sherlock Holmes
- 2012
- Children of Men
- Batman Begins

And many many others. Look it up!

http://www.imdb.com/company/co0105115/

I am SO happy

Seriously, if someone had said to me a few days ago what movie I thought had the best special effects, I would have said 2012. I thought it was incredible.

Double Negative is a great VFX house. If they are really in charge I'm beyond happy.

Right.

Another thing I just wondered about after seing the creepily realistic-looking tsunami in Hereafter - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2t0zQ9RmYSc

From a "realistic" POV how the hell could Superman deal with something like this? It's huge and chaotic as hell and I could see him being at big odds here.

Sweet! I don't know much about Double Negative but I thought the effects in Deathly Hallows Part 2 were great. And Inception...and Iron Man 2...and Sherlock Holmes.

The Bourne Legacy, Total Recall, The Dark Knight Rises, Inception, Wolfman, The Tree of Life, V for Vendetta, Casino Royale, etc. They have been the special effects company for a lot of big time movies with good special effects. I doubt that this movie can fail. I really doubt it right now. I can't wait to hear who the composer is going to be.

That's exactly how you challenge Superman. It just goes to show how something like stopping a natural disaster could be more difficult than cold-cocking someone like Zod, in some ways.

If it's Double Negative (hope IMDB is right) then I'm a very happy fan!

That's not confirmation they're in charge, it's only confirmation of their involvement. Various effects houses are hired to handle all sorts of scenes. This allows several effects shots to be worked on simultaneously.

Look through each of the projects listed on their site. You will see for many of those films, they were only tasked with a couple of key moments, but not all. Iron Man 2 being the most prominent, as ILM spearheaded that project.

Yep. What Krim said.

Good that they are involved, but not sure if they are the big dog.

Neither was Snyder, but I still think the decision to hire him as director may prove to be very exciting.

So I guess we still don't know the lead house is huh?

Oh well at least we know this first production company that's been confirmed has churned out quality.
