Danger Girls Find It Leads

According to tracking boards, Benderspink is out this morning to the town with the rights to Danger Girl, the J. Scott Campbell comic book series published by Wildstorm.

Danger Girl is described as “Kill Bill” meets “Raiders of the Lost Ark” with the team element of “Mission Impossible.”

I remember the original seven issue run back in 1998 and especially the way Campbell drew the ridculously curvacious women of the series. Campbell is a curve man like yours truly.

The Logline is: A beautiful adventuress joins forces with an all-female spy agency as they race around the world to recover a trio of powerful relics.

Anyway, the kicker is that Milla Jovovich, Kate Beckinsale and Sofia Vergara are attached to star.

Interesting trio.

Where will it land? Who knows.

Hmm.. none of those strike me as Abbey Chase at all. They are more like Natalia Kassle or Sydney Savage. Abbey Chase should be a little younger, more innocent and somewhat more cuter than just plain hot. She's the novice of the group and probably through whom the story will be told. I don't see Jovovich, Beckinsale or Vergara as Chase (and please don't get Vergara as her and to dye her hair blonde - that would be worse than Jessica Alba as Sue Storm).

I would say Jovovich would fit the role of Natalia Kassell. Beckinsale doesn't suit Chase, but she could also be Kassle as well or Savage.

Hopefully those 3 actresses are just rumoured to have auditioned, and not actually up for roles otherwise I think this would, on the whole, be not very good casting.

Yvonne Strahovski would've been suitable for Sydney Savage since she is Australian and has played a similar role in Chuck.

I wonder if Sean Connery could even be persuaded to star in this vehicle as Deuce? He has retired, and he might very well think this is a load of crap in his opinion.

For Abbey you really need someone with comedy timing and a quirky sense of humour to pull off her naivety when she first joins. I'm assuming it will be an origin story showing how she ended up in the Danger Girl organisation and Natalia's defection to the dark side with Abbey eventually replacing her.

If they get someone too sure of herself, then it will come across too much like the Tomb Raider movies. Abbey really needs to be a novice in this film. I can't see any of the actresses coming across like that. Beckinsale seems just too experienced now.

i think mila is gonna be abby she is younger of the 3 and can play innocent naive quite well but who knows even tho they probably should go younger

Her or Teresa Palmer are the first two that come to mind, although there's plenty of girls State side and locally who could be looked at also.

Yvonne Strahovski just has to send in a highlight reel of Chuck for her to audition. I wish she could be considered for movies roles like these instead of just being a love interest(ex. Killer Elite).

I, obviously, don't know much about Danger Girl but if I was making a movie with 3 hot women in it, I'd pick Olivia Wilde, Mila Kunis and Teresa Palmer.

Well you can't just pick ANY 3 hot women. They have to match the characters and their appearances. I can't see any of them as Abbey, and it would be dumb to cast Palmer (an Australian actress) as Abbey instead of as Sydney, but Mila Kunis also looks more like Sydney than Palmer.

Well hopefully they shouldn't. On the surface, it looks just like Charlie's Angels. However CA is about 3 agents of equal status and it's an ensemble piece. With Danger Girl, Abbey Chase is really the star/ POV character. Also, Danger Girl isn't really about 3 girls as such. There are 3 girls, yes, and it appears that way on that picture in the original post, and with 3 actresses cast. However, it's really about 2 girls ultimately, because Natalia Kassle (the Russian blonde in the back) is actually a double agent for the Hammer Empire (a neo-Nazi organisation), so she doesn't stay as one of the Danger Girls.

The types of actresses you need for each role are as follows:

1) Abbey Chase: cute, young, innocent looking American actress, (preferably blonde but she can dye her hair)

2) Sydney Savage: Sweet looking but sassy/ vivacious Australian actress, (preferably brunette but she can dye her hair)

3) Natalia Kassle: Ice queen-looking, eastern european type (Russian), (preferably blonde but she can dye her hair).

I wasn't talking about Danger Girl specifically. I was just saying that I'd like to see those 3 in a movie together.

That's why I really don't think it should focus on the girls as an organisation or keep pushing the concept of three girls. It should be about Abbey Chase, and how she becomes the new Danger Girl. The name of the movie should refer to her instead of the organisation.

Have the other girls more in the background.

well films producer said it will be the anti charlies angels

Askareih says they’ll be taking a Batman Begins approach the film by taking the characters “very seriously.” The producer says it will be the anti-Charlie’s Angels.

Askarieh says he wants the film to be “serious and fun” at the same time. He says Director Todd Lincoln, “envisions a hyper-stylized, hyper-action action film, but with a heart and with characters you care about.”

Hyper stylized? Hyper action? That doesn't sound too good. That sounds like Lee Tamahori's crap that he pulled for Die Another Day.

Couldn't the Matrix also be described as hyper stylized? That doesn't seem to really suit Danger Girl. Just give us a good old fashioned action movie with a good story, good actresses and good characterisation. It doesn't need to rely on these little tricks to make it work.

And while I am never one to use age as a factor, those three are a little old to play the leads, except for Natalia who I always viewed as being in her early 30s. Abbey and Sydney are obviously about mid 20's.
