Personally, I think the best direction for them to do is a reboot. This first film really failed too the point where a sequel is not really needed, and from a business standpoint, there has been talks and basically plans for a sequel but I don't expect them to actually go through with it. A reboot really would be the best thing for them to do at this point.

Sequel.

I'm interested in how people's perceptions of a sequel and the quality of the first film will be effected by the 14 min extended cut of the movie. I have some hope that it fixes the editing problems and shows a good deal more of the Corps. I want this movie to start on Earth, not on Ryut with Parallax and Tomar-Re's voice over. I'd much rather Hal end up seeing all of that in the Book of Oa or something and have Tomar-Re tell the story to him after he gets to Oa. The way it is, it makes the studio and producers seem like they have no faith in their audience to get it and there's nothing not to get. All of that "The Corps is this that and the other thing, powered by the light of will and founded by the immortal Guardians" would work much better if we are being told this at the same time Hal is, because we should be discovering the power of the ring and the mythology of the Corps at the same time Hal is. Hal needs to be our entry into the world, we don't need to go in knowing before he does.

Not a reboot. You can show Hal's origin in the intro like they did with the Raimi Trilogy. I'd love to see the movie just start off with Hal & Sinestro on a mission in space.

Sequel for sure, with or without Reynolds. And i dont think you have to introduce Stewart just yet. The sequel has so much potential so i dont think they should reboot it. If they have to recast so be it, honestly after watching the film a few times i could see the need to recast some roles. Reynolds, with or without doesnt matter. My conclusion is that Reynolds simply cant lead a film on his own until he finds the right role. Very similar to Chris Evans, until he got Captain America and owned the role. Reynolds should've been the Flash in the first place, that would've been the role he owned. Miscast folks. They have to move forward with what they should do about Sinestro, i dont feel he should betray the corp just yet in the sequel, but rather try and assemble his own team or killers, just planning something thats hinted throughout the film. There should be another main villain that isnt Sinestro. The potential is there and WB seems to know what went wrong with the first one, they had months and months of gloating saying this was the Star Wars of superhero movies, well it wasnt, there wasnt much of the film in space to begin with. Im hoping for a sequel

Everyone says RR would be a great Flash, but he's already playing Deadpool and The Flash (Wally West) has some of the same comedic things Deadpool has. They'd be too similar, IMO. Plus WB/DC would most likely do a Barry Allen Flash before a Wally Flash I would imagine.

I'm with you on Reynolds. They can recast him if need be. He's a really good actor when given the right script and direction. But if they want a new face for GL, I'm cool with that.

I'm not sure about seeing Jon/Guy/Kyle just yet either. But who knows what'll happen at this point. I'm just hoping the extended cut helps out the pacing problems and makes it more enjoyable to watch. (I still liked GL, I just thought it could be tons, tons better.)

The movie wasnt perfect but now all the origin stuff is taken care of, I really think they can hit the ground running with GL 2 and give us something really cool!

The movie only made 200 million dollars on a 200 M budget. keep in mind studio's only see about half of that money. Then you add the 100-150 Million they spent on marketing this disaster, and we're looking at a film a quarter of a billion dollars in the red.

If WB is smart, they won't invest in a movie with this same cast and crew again. Reboot city.

Sequel. Introduce Kyle as the new rookie Lantern under Hal. Have them fight Sinestro ending with Hal becoming Parallax, setting up Kyle vs Hal in GL3.

Sequel. The film was popcorn flick fun, and I enjoyed it despite the plot issues. I thought the acting was quite good. Sequel it up - focus more on Sinestro / Hal relationship. The franchise is not unsalvageable. Frankly I feel this film was better than many other superhero films that did get or are getting sequels. Ghost Rider and Fantastic Four spring to mind.

Reboot. They've already missed up too many characters and their relationships, i.e. the relationship between Hal and Sinestro before his betrayal. The process of Sinestro's betrayal, there was no power in it in the film. The relationship between Abin Sur and Sinestro. The relationship between Hal and his Dad, it was just weak in the film. The relationship between Hal and Carol, possibly one of the worst superhero love stories I've seen to date. and the list could go on. While where there were a few things I loved about the film, including Abin Sur, Tomar Re, Kilowog and the look of Oa. There's too many things, in my opinion, that make it impossible to make a sequel and do the characters justice.

Reboot a few years down the line, and make it the great movie that the GL mythos deserves. This won't get a sequel, and it doesn't deserve it. Crap movies don't deserve to become franchises.

I don't think anybody would be interested in seeing a sequel to this. It left a bad taste in most people's mouths.

After 5 years or more, they can reboot it, with a new cast, story, and filmmakers behind it. This time, it should be worthy of the epicness and awesomeness of the comics.

Reboot. This movie had its chance and just didn't get the job done. I don't see how they could justify bringing them back. If the public largely yawned over this first film, that doesn't leave me with confidence that a second film will get them out to the theater any faster.

The GL concept is good enough that it might be a box office winner with a different approach and cast, a couple years down the line. Though it sucks that Angela Bassett probably wouldn't show up as Waller in another film if the current GL movie was ignored or forgotten.

I think a sequel could be done for cheaper and a better movie could be made, so I hope they do that, but I just dont see WB doing it with how bad GL flopped, we'll see but I dont see either a reboot or a sequel will happen anytime soon.

I think a sequel would be good. theyve already established the character sure the film had its problems but rebooting now is just to soon people now know Reynolds as GL and if they reboot now people in the general audience wont be happy. Warner bros have already invested so much into GL they may as well just finish a GL2 whether or not they do GL3 is another thing but theyve commited to it now and may as well just do it.
