There is no velcro around the waist, that's piping.

And the suit is dark blue, not black. And the wrist cuffs are not metal.

I love how the suit has an "alien" look to it......yet at the same time it doesn't look too alien.........

Red briefs would have killed the whole alien/tough look.

The buckle seems smaller to me in this pic. Maybe it's just an effect of the blurryness.

LOVE this suit.

Can we agree that his wrist things are metal?
I don't know. Looks like a harder rubber to me.

Looking at the seam that comes off the buckle at a sharp angle and goes around the side to the back: anyone else think it suggests that it may meet up in the back with the piping that comes off the cape attachment?? Something like this:

Or just crazy talk?

He looks flipping ripped in that suit. Just awesome! Can someone put that pic next to the Routh original release photo. It's a joke at how much better this suit will look one screen.

Anyone else think the shield's kind of reflective?

Yeah, as reflective as the cuffs it seems. Which makes me think they're the same harder rubber material rather than metal as has been suggested.

Well, maybe not metal. I don't think they would put metal on the actual actor, but it's not fabric.

No, definitely not fabric. Looks to me they're the same material as the S-shield. They have the same reflectivity.

15 minutes??!!

with all the stuff that looks to be going on there.........I'd feel extremely cheated if "only" 15 minutes were spent in Smallville........

and that's not just my Kansas pride talking.......

Id also think its safe to say that the suit is definitely kryptonian in nature which is also pretty cool.

It does. The S-shield size relative to the chest is spot on.

Looks pretty good! Strong and powerful!

I think it's a testament to the strength of that design that it looks good without the cape.

I still think it needs a red or yellow belt......

can anyone do a manip of the pic to include a red belt like in the relaunch costume?

Well, this is as clear as shot as we'll get for a while. Not too crazy about it, of course, although Cavill himself looks impressive in it. There's a buckle or a dot or something where the buckle should be, and the texture of the suit and the ridges on the side give an alien and somewhat serpentine feel. It's really not the worst costume in the world, but it's not how I would want Superman to look. I still rank it and the Superman Returns costume about even, a solid 6/10-slightly above average, way better than abortions like the Batnipple suit or the CGI Green Lantern costume, not as good as the Raimi Spider-Man suit which continues to be the best superhero movie costume ever, IMO. It saddens me to see that the *******s won and the trunks are gone, but that's life...*******s always seem to win.

If the rest of the movie is faithful to the classic Superman comics (the ones that actually sold and mattered), then I'll put up with the suit and find a fanedit that fixes the lack of trunks. If not, then the whole movie will suck. I doubt it can be much worse than Stalkerman Returns, anyway.

The color scheme is also highly impressive, a deep dark blue, intense red, and gold which looks so much classier than yellow. it is very regal
