How the hell were his legs shining so much in those other pictures of him on the street?

It's not quit as good as Raimi's Spidey suit. Though it is still great.

The gauntlets and the piping on his legs seem reflective in certain light.

Not even in the same league as the awesome Raimi Spider-Man costume.

I'd rank it about even with Cap and Thor's movie suits.

This suit got right what Raimi's Spidey costume got wrong.

You can see that with the gauntlets, and collar and waist piping in that pic, but the element on the leg looks pretty much like the rest of the suit. I guess it just goes to show that those "metallic" parts are almost the exact same color, just different textures/finishes, and not black or silver like some speculated.

I think this suit has the upper-hand compared to the SR suit.

I just feel that this suit, while different, feels a lot more natural. It all works together nicely, whereas the SR suit looked a little awkward and while good, just not quite right. It didn't flow.

Are you calling the costume designers a-holes?

Btw can someone photoshop the trunks on the suit. I feel like theyll look out of place with this design.

What, being faithful to the costume as designed by Spider-Man's creator, Steve Ditko?

This costume can't touch that masterpiece. It was 100% perfect.

Agreed. The Raimi Spidey suit was simply amazing.

No, the worthless subhuman piece of **** bastards who ridiculed Joe Shuster's Superman design for years until they finally got their wish-the trunks removed from Superman's costume. The *******s. They won.

I'd call it about even in level of changes personally. Both are still instantly recognizable* as their respective character.

*to those who aren't being overly dramatic anyway

Ditko never drew raised silvery webs, silvery eye lenses or the movie suits particular spider logos (on the chest and back)

The SR costume looked uncomfortable and restrictive. The high neckline and short boots looked odd and unflattering

Man of Steel is definitely an upgrade in every aspect.

They actually had the audacity to make a design change on a suit that has seen DOZENS of other design changes throughout the years. The nerve, huh?

It's much more a case of calling them as I see them.

Anyway, done deal now, let's see how they butcher Siegel and Shuster's creation next.

Very much agreed. Even without the iconic cape on, Cavill absolutely projects Superman! Summer 2013 can't come soon enough!

Kind of overly dramatic, though.

It's really not the worst costume in the world, but it's not how I would want Superman to look. I still rank it and the Superman Returns costume about even, a solid 6/10-slightly above average, way better than abortions like the Batnipple suit or the CGI Green Lantern costume, not as good as the Raimi Spider-Man suit which continues to be the best superhero movie costume ever, IMO. It saddens me to see that the *******s won and the trunks are gone, but that's life...*******s always seem to win.

If the rest of the movie is faithful to the classic Superman comics (the ones that actually sold and mattered), then I'll put up with the suit and find a fanedit that fixes the lack of trunks. If not, then the whole movie will suck. I doubt it can be much worse than Stalkerman Returns, anyway.

Including alterations by the original creators themselves.
