I used to watch a few episodes here and there in the really early days, but kinda got bored of it and just stopped. I also had this little phase where I just hated Superman (still not a big fan honestly). Lol, When the series finale came up though I felt like I should've kept watching it, and I even resisted watching the series finale just in case I wanted to watch the build up first at some point.
All of you know the show is done with, so is it worth watching it now? I mean what if I like it, then I'll just cause myself to want more and know that I can't have it! Lol Also, if I should start watching it, where should I start? I've seen most of the first few seasons, and I don't think I really want to start off at the beginning, but would that be the best move? |

I say watch some of the best episodes from every season and see how you feel afterwards. Everyone is going to have varied opinions on things.

Despite my issues with it over the years. I'd recommend it, no hesitation.

My all-time favorite show. Started watching it at 15, now I'm 24 and I haven't seen a better show on TV. Yes, it has a whole lot of issues but no other show kept me as captivated and fascinated as Smallville had. It's what made me a DC fan as well. Give it a try for sure.

I personally thought the earlier seasons were much better than the latest ones, mainly due to the characters Lana, Lex, and Jonathan. If you found those earlier seasons boring, then I'm not sure what you'd expect from the newer ones, but opinions vary from person to person and I'm not saying I'm right either. I found the show itself to be awesome from start to finish even with some really bad episodes. I liked the majority of the show, even though I, like yourself, am not the biggest fan of Superman. If I were you, I would try to start from where you left off. If you can't remember maybe Season 4-ish? and see if you like it or not. Or you could watch some of the better episodes in each season, but you will miss out on the development of the story itself, so I wouldn't advise that except as a last resort. The series finale was really good, but it could have been better. Now that the show has ended I am already starting to miss new episodes, so I'm going to have to go back and watch them again from the beginning sometime soon. Hope this helps.

So then I would advise watching in order from the beginning so you won't have any plot holes from missed episodes.

well if you feel you will miss stuff then ya go ahead and watch from start. But to put in effort to check out some of the best episodes of a season. There is certain episodes most would advise to skip and some wouldnt really hurt the overall story of the show.

That seems like my best option at this point, so I'll probably just do that. I doubt I'll remember too many of the episodes I saw back then anyway, and it'll be nice to really know what's going on this time. Lol

well if you like castiel maybe a bunch of us could give you the wrost episodes of every season that doesnt really effect the overall plot of the season and/series. Cause there has been some episodes that were bad but didnt really effect the plot much. If you like i could come up with a list later of my choices of episodes that could be skipped that wont effect much.

Thanks for taking the time to make a list, dude! I just saw that Smallville was on YTV, so I turned it on, and was totally lost with Clark getting his ass kicked by.... Clark. So I turned it off and downloaded a few episodes. Lol, if I like them when I get a chance I might pick up some seasons! - 10 minutes in and I already get the feeling I'm going to really like the show though.

well i know alot of fans were not to keen on rush. i loved it for the fun of the episode and what was going on with pete and chloe and all that.
Thirst that was a pretty bad episode all around in my opinion. oh i would rewatch it but its one of those bad episodes that even if you are rewatching seasons you are bound to end up watching it. Static well overall a bad episode and manhunter cameo is very small if anything just watch his cameo.

How can an episode about Krypto Vampires be bad!?!
- Maybe I'll skip it, and maybe I'll also just Youtube the Manhunter cameo. Lol

I personally think you should either watch the first few seasons only or skip the entire series. You might as well watch Superman The Animated Series. It's far more entertaining and better written.

Wow, I think that's the first bad thing I've heard said about it so far. Lol, well I'm loving the first few episodes so far, what's wrong with the show after the first few seasons?

Well for folks its a variety of reasons from all the dam krypto freaks, to the dam dawson creek romantic drama, and the on again off again dragging out of lana and clark. Then between seasons 5-7 clark didn't really have to much positive development going on.

I have watched Season one, few episodes from season two and then I avoided it for sometime and then watched a few episodes from season three and season Four, after that I stopped watching the series till Goff Johns written Justice Society episode in season Nine .
Then as I learned that season ten was going to be the last season I became interested in how they were going to wrap it up, I watched all of the season Ten episodes right upto the Finale, where everyone was expecting Tom to appear in Superman costume, and he did that partially. Now I am thinking of buying a DVD box set (I don't have any for Smallville, as I am sort of Superman fan which season would you recommend ? I can buy only One box-set at the moment. Which one is the best written ?)

My personal favorite is season 2. I would recommend you watch all of season 2 and season 3. Like someone said before, the early seasons are the best.

Thanks, I was thinking that first three seasons were better, but was not sure.
I will buy season two box set and later on maybe season three. There were some good episodes in season Ten as well, but many felt as filler episodes.

When it drags on for like 60 episodes its gets very grating, the fact that the writers were forced to stretch this out for so long really killed the quality of this show. If it was only like 5 seasons long, it could've been pretty solid.
