If only the producer wasn't already attached to the two worst movies in the character's history.

Martha De Laurentiis. Even in the article her name is attached to those masterpieces Hannibal Rising and Red Dragon.

The fact that his name is attached to this at least gives us all some hope that the end product will be of some quality.

His aesthetic worked well for Friday the 13th, and to limited success in Nightmare on Elm Street (the only saving feature of the film was Haley's performance, which was fantastic.) But, we do really need another retelling of "Red Dragon"? There have already been two adaptations of the important moments in the Lecter-Graham relationship...

That's Brad Fuller you're thinking of, not Bryan.

It might be an interesting concept though, if it focusses on the working relationship between Lecter and Graham when they were allies, solving crimes. Although a psychotic serial killer helping the police catch other killers will merit comparisons to Dexter, but if they keep Lecter's own crimes to a very select few, then that will help distinguish the two shows. Also, Graham is smarter than the entire police force on Dexter put together, so you'd have a more compelling "hero" character.

This has me interested. I just hope it comes out to the quality I'm hoping for. Now who to cast as Lector?

back to the tv show, I hope the producers and directors can be honest about their approach, after all, there are folk in the business who have dodgy notions flaoting around in their heads that we never get to read, and they'll do anything to cover that up when it becomes apparent. There's obviously more than one person in the biz who has had need of sorting himself out. Last edited by Thebumwhowalks; 09-13-2011 at 08:57 AM. |

That he can pass for a young Brian Cox is an added bonus.

That's what it sounded like to me, the actually day to day process of how Will caught him, something that was only touched on briefly in Red Dragon.

I'm on the fence about the concept, but it has some serious potential.

I'd be willing to check it out if it happens.
I am pretty forgiving when it comes to most things.

I have to wonder what network this would end up on. Showtime already has Dexter, so doing this would be a bit redundant, and HBO already has a buttload of projects in development. Doing this on a broadcast network would just seem wrong. As for the basic cable networks, AMC or FX are the only ones I can see making it work.

AMC and FX are both good choices. FX if they really want to be graphic, but I think Hannibal's terror is best when suggested rather than shown, so AMC would also work. It's not like there's going to be a lot of graphic sex between the two lead characters (I hope not, at least).
