I dont know how this will work. NBC is light hearted affair of a network and Hannibal is pretty gruesome with his murders and the ones he helped on. This series would be perfect for HBO or even a network like FX. Just a network that isnt afraid to go there in terms of what is shown. I dont see any shows right now on NBC that really push the bar in terms of risk.

Not sure if NBC giving a series order was a smart choice. I mean, the success of this show depends on the casting of Lecter. And we all know that role won't be an easy task to carry out.

I still want Mark A Sheppard in the role. He would be a younger Lecter, which makes sense for the context of the show.

I don't think it matters what tv network picked it up because the gruesomeness of the murders were never ever going to be seen. However with a well established character like Lector most viewers are going to have a certain expectation going in that will allow them to fill any gaps they may have. Who they hire in the leads is the first real hurdle because Sir Anthony Hopkins is going to be a hard act to follow.

Wow, that is just a terrible choice for Will Graham. I hope for Dr. Lecter they cast someone who has...y'know...hit puberty.

I'm very, very intrested to see who they get to play Hannibal. It's going to be a damned hard role to fill. Has it been said when this is supposed to air? I'm assuming sometime next year.

I don't really know anything about Hugh Dancy, so no comment.

Between that Fringe clip at the top of the page and his Moriarty in Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, Jared Harris isn't a bad idea for Hannibal, although I suspect this Hannibal will be younger than Harris.

I agree with Pink Ranger, I want Mark Sheppard in the role.






He deserves a starring role. Though I fear that NBC will want a bigger actor. Too bad Jason Isaac signed onto Awake. He'd be good in the role.

Many are worried that NBC is a light hearted network but many of your are forgetting about HEROES. It was an NBC show and it had plenty of blood and violence.

I love the character. I really do. But they have milked this thing for all it's worth and because of that,Hannibal doesn't have that scariness and mystery that he did early on. I might check it out,but I'm not that excited about it or have high hopes.

I think Hannibal Lector is as compelling a character as there is in fiction today in all forms of media from print media to film.I do not think they've milked the character enough there has been 20 plus James Bond movies I think Hannibal has the same potential as James Bond had when that franchise first started 40odd years ago.

Hannibal for me was made as iconic as he is by Anthony Hopkins. I'm wary of this show, but I'll definitely check it out. They're gonna be hard pressed to find someone to match Hopkins work as Lecter.

I think the key is the actor not trying to do a Hopkins impression but rather putting his own spin on Lecter.

It's not like Hopkins is even the first Lecter. Brian Cox is pretty great, actually. Not as showy, but still really captures the essence of Lecter.
