Very cool. Too bad the Superman picture isn't of higher quality because you could fool people with that.

Love this. Nice work. I love the new look Superman of Cavill. The new suite is a very nice twist from what we're so use to. Looks more alien and Kryptonian if you ask me. Love that.

I still don't understand why people keep drawing the outline of the new \S/ as slightly curved, it is NOT curved.

Tom Welling was also a mediocre failure

I thought he did... briefly!

Wasn't there a replica shot of him soaring past the camera like Reeves, or was it Routh doing that or both?

It was just a horrible CGI Superman you could barely see. And at the end, he wore a silly T-shirt with the House of El symbol on it.

I will never understand some people. It has been proven time after time after bloody time that it wasn't a t-shirt. The blue was apparent in his sleeves when he was about to do the shirt rip, and the upper half of that suit was even textured,it was far from a t-shirt. It was the same type of long-sleeved spandex that he wore in the plane rescue scene with Lois.
Agreed it was a crappy thing not to show him in the suit but the t-shirt allegations really piss me off because it's a blatant lie.
And saying it was the symbol of the house of El doesn't make it any less of A SUPERMAN shield.

For those of you who commented on the work, thanks.
For the rest of you with this whole Tom Welling controversy, I put him in the suit cause I think he deserved it, after his 10 year commitment to smallville. I used the Brandon Routh Costume, which was shown on the show NUMEROUS times, and I used a screenshot from the last 30 seconds of the series finale for his shield, since it was notably larger and slightly diff from the Superman Returns one.

Seing the suits side by side like that, Cavill's really sticks out. I really appreciate the alieness of the suit. Gives it a more intense/serious vibe and makes it slightly creepier. The trunkless design really supports this, like it or not.
Like I mentioned before, this is the first time the suit doesnt look like a homemade or even manmade costume.

Kirk Alyn is under-appreciated in my opinion. He has a classic look and I like how he and Christopher Reeve just let the suit speak for itself. In the poses above, they look confident and powerful. George Reeves's pose looks ridiculous by comparison.

I thought this too. It's the only suit in that lineup which looks like it isn't spandex or light cloth, and couldn't possibly have been knocked together by Martha with a sewing machine.

I love the look of it, the alien design/texture, etc. It really does look like a Kryptonian uniform, and as much as I love the older traditional suits, they look very very simplistic next to it.

Yep, it's quite ridiculous just how ridiculously absurd Cain looks in his saggy halloween-outfit. Heck, they all do next to Cavill. I still miss the trunks, but let it be said... Long live the new suit and may the spandex R.I.P!

...well I don't think it's a lie but rather an impression and description. I don't think anyone is trying to create a false impression by misrepresenting the truth. They just see it that way. No need to get overly pissed.

What I don't understand, although I am not accusing anyone of lying, is why they call the \S/ symbol a "shield"?

Shield: a broad piece of armor, varying widely in form and size, carried apart from the body, usually on the left arm, as a defense against swords, lances, arrows, etc.

Superman obviously needs no shield for protection.

More correctly it is an "insignia" or family Crest.

Insignia:
a badge or distinguishing mark of office or honor: a military insignia.

or a Emblem
or a Crest
or a Badge

But we don't need no stinkin badges...

Because it's shaped like a shield.

Although your logic is clear, it is a SHIELD. Why? Because, in Superman's very first appearance, it originally and literally WAS a shield. Have a look:

Get it? Even if it wasn't really a shield, it was SHAPED like a shield.

I see...

It is shaped like a shield, but is really a heraldry crest...it represents a shield.

for the non French-

So yes...I get it. It is not a shield... it just "looks" like one.

I was just making the point that it "could" be offensive to me that it is referred to as a shield when in fact it is not.. But again, it's just a word and we are trying to understand and communicate ideas.

Just imagine if the Snyder decided to go old school and use those shields! What sort of arguments would we be into then??

Buster Crab style Flash Gordon/ Buck Rogers anyone.

(loved those serials on Sunday morning)

(Cheerio's too!)
