This roast completely sucked. Where were the funny regulars like Lisa??? Jeff Ross was about the only funny one up there.

There were too many non comedians this go around and all the good comedians were replaced by comedians that weren't really funny...Patrice O'Neal?

I never payed much attention to this. So I went in expecting to see the regulars. Pretty disappointing when I saw who was there.

Of all the roasts for Lisa Lampanelli to miss it had to be this one

Schumers joke about Dunn was harsh/uncalled for. Bad taste really.

No idea who Amy Schumer is. But I hope that was her first and last appearance at one of these. She was pretty awful.

The Dunn line was the only thing of hers that I got a laugh out of. But it wasn't the joke itself. It was Steve-O's reaction to it.

I thought it was pretty entertaining. All roasts are hit-or-miss. Sadly, Lisa and Whitney weren't there and Greg is no longer with us....but I enjoyed Jeff Ross's material, the new blond guy (forgot his name), Amy Schumer and Seth's continued great MC-ing. Tyson was unsurprisingly bad, Steve-O was boring and both Lovitz and Shatner striked out...but that usually happens with the non-comedian roasters anyways (or old ones in Lovitz's case).

In Schumer's defense her line about something to the effect of...

"Charlie, your career is like Bruce Willis. Your best work was in the '80s and both your old slots were filled by Ashton Kutcher."

That line killed. The joke at Steve-O's expense (as well as the diabetes-foot joke) crossed the line, but that always happens at these roasts. Jeff Ross's pun about Charlie's kids was in the grey zone, but for these sort of things you just let it all air out.

My thoughts.

I have never "gotten" the point of this particular roast.

The point of roasts are lovingly hating on someone successful, not hatefully hating on someone whose life already is a tragedy.

The diabetes jokes were awful and distasteful but the Ryan Dunn death joke didn't bother me because that idiot not only killed himself but he took the life of another. He deserves all the ridicule in the world for getting wasted and wrapping his car around a tree. But, Amy Schumer sucked. They all sucked except for Jeff. This is probably one of the worst roasts I have seen.

Roast was great. Tyson surprised me, Seth was great as always, and Schumer was great too. That girl is hilarious (I've seen her stand up) and has a great future ahead of her. Shatner was good as well.

Jeff Ross needs to go, I can't stand him. Glad Lampanelli wasn't there since I don't care for either. The new guy wasn't bad, but Steve-O doesn't belong at these things either. Patrice was ok, but Luvitz let me down.

Dude, Amy was totally out of line, I mean who is she that she feels safe making that kind of judgement call for a distasteful joke?

Too soon

LL would have made this roast good. As it is, it was the second-worst one after larry the cable guy, and his was bad mostly because nobody really cares who he is outside of the red states.

I agree with previous posters: too many non-comedians and non-roasting comedians this time. They needed at least two of the following: LL, Nick DiPaulo, Gilbert Gottfried, Jim Norton, Jimmy Kimmel.

Well said.

I turned on the roast, and did not recognize anybody, save Shatner and Steve-O. Shatner's jabs were worth a light chuckle, but aside from them, the rest were a mixed bag. On the positive side, it was great seeing Slash.

I'm no roast expert but I thought it was all right. There were some hits and misses and some did better than others. I thought Amy was sufficient nasty and even Kate Walsh got some good jabs in there. I don't know if there is actually a line that can be crossed in these type of events, not to say that the people at home can't be disgusted by the things described, because there were some wincing moments.

I did enjoy Charlie's speech at the end.

You're supposed to be offended at some point. The Michael J. Fox, Ryan Dunn, and diabetes foot jokes were offensive...but I laughed at two of them...so it fit the job.

I think people put older roasts on a pedestal. Yes, Lisa, Whitney and Greg were missed but we've also seen older roasts have people like George Hamilton and Pamela Anderson show up and blunder through routines the same way Shatner did (though Mike Tyson was a new level of bad). I enjoyed the show for what it was.

Charlie's rebuttal was pretty good before it became an ego-stroking "I've already won" victory speech. I noticed those who've been in the business a long time on the side like Shatner and McFarlen were not clapping because the cycle is just going to continue.

Still a fun show, in my opinion.

Overall, I thought the Roast was decent, but definitely not as good as some of the others. Some of my random thoughts:

Greg Giraldo is definitely missed when it comes to these roasts.

Jeffery Ross was probably the highlight, he always brings it.

I think Amy Schmur was also a highlight. I had never heard of her and think she had some of the best laughs.

Speaking of Amy, I didn't think her Ryan Dunn joke wasn't distasteful. She didn't goof on Dunn, joke was about Steve-O.

Tyson is still nuts and Patrice O'Neal bombed bad.
