The trailer for this show.

Stop being so sensitive to other peoples opinions. Big deal we don't like it, doesn't mean you're an idiot for liking it does it? No so chill.

I am a sucker for scifi shows but it always baffles me when the survivors of an post-apocalyptic world can't figure out how to make electricity again, are all the scientist dead, where is Master Blaster ( see Mad Max III ) when you need him !

Nope. The only thing that looks good about about it is Giancarlo Esposito.

It just looks like yet another one of those garbage Heroes/Jericho/The Event/V/Flash Forward/et cetera "WE'RE TRYING SO DAMN HARD TO BE LOST!!" shows that will probably get cancelled in its second or third season.

you mean cancelled after the first season unless the production cost is cheap and the rating not too low.

Abrams and Kripke together have definitely piqued my interest, but this concept reminds me a lot of S.M. Stirling's Dies the Fire. Also, if flintlock weapons still work, why don't modern firearms? M16s and semiautomatic pistols don't use computer chips, right?

Well I'm glad they keep trying at least. I used to watch so many good shows and now I barely watch any, and any new ones I do never make it past a first season

I would tune in, then it's all up to the pilot in wanting everyone to come back the next week. I watched The Event premiere but I never got around to watching the next week on DVR and saw what people thought about it and never tuned in again. It was NBC's highest tested pilot, tons of potential.

The premise sounds cool, and the shots I've seen look really good, but I kind of get a terra nova vibe. This could be pretty cool..or it could be pretty horrible.

I'll give it a try because of Abrams and Kripke but judging from the trailer, I'm very "meh" about it.

Big budget special effects-laden serial drama with some kind of kooky mystery that ultimately won't matter as a hook. You're blind if you can't see how this show and all the others like it have been cribbing from Lost in a futile effort to become "the next big thing".

Bringing in Eric Kripke and you could realize that he did the same thing with having Dean's necklace as something that could find God that didn't really matter in the end and no one really complained about that.

Does it make you feel better that generally the shows "cribbing" from Lost's formula (as defined by you) are generally shows DONE BY THE SAME PEOPLE that did Lost?

Also, don't act like Lost's formula for keeping you tuned in was original in the least. They just used a different hook, but mostly because sci-fi mystery seems to be big nowadays.

It wasn't that long ago when teen/young-adult-drama was the "in" thing, so it was used by several shows. Today, it's fantasy/sci-fi/science mystery (and musicals, apparently). And even then, X-Files was ahead of that curve, except it was less serialized.

It looks good, so it will probably be cancelled before the first season is over.

I don't think it had anything to do with the sci-fi element at least until the middle of the third season. It was more of 'wow we have about over 7 main characters, all of which are pretty interesting and on top of that are connected with each other.' I don't think a show ever did that before and all the shows that will try to do it will most likely fail, IE: Heroes.

The fantasy/sci-fi element was there in spades from the very first episodes with the smoke monster and the Polar Bear.
