She does look motherly. Man, Kal-El really lucked out on the mother thing. First Diane Lane, now this gal.

Figure I'd throw my age in as-well

I'm 30 and my woman/fiance is 34. My sister is 26 and her boyfriend is 42. Her boyfriend before this one was just 19! So she jump ahead 23 yrs with this one. Go figure

Age isn't nothin but a number. I had a girl at the last Hotel I managed that was 27 and her husband was 52, they had 3 kids together. Her husband was buff though, looked in his 30's!

I hope Lara's character will be allowed to interact with other kryptonians instead of just Jor-el and Kal-el in this film.

Me too. I'd like (some of) the secondary characters to be a little more fleshed out.

I approve of her secondary characteristics being more fleshed out too.

ShockYa: And what can you share about the upcoming “Man of Steel,” in which you play Superman’s birth mother?

AZ: I think it’s going to be an awesome movie, really. I loved Zack (Snyder). I think he’s a very cool and creative director, and I think the executive producers who developed the project are really on top of it because it’s a major movie and they’ve invested so much in it — not just money, but time. So I think the edginess of the direction that Zack took is something that’s really going to pay off. I have some scenes with Russell Crowe. And I love the costumes. I would steal one if I could. I don’t know if I’d have anywhere to go in it, but they’re nice, and overall it was such nice, nice work.

I wonder if the "edgy" will become the "epic" of MOS?

Anyway, sounds good.

Ayelet Zurer Collider.com Interview

http://collider.com/ayelet-zurer-sup...erview/160676/

On What Fans Should Expect From Man Of Steel:
Quote:
I can’t say much, but from what I’ve seen, it looks closer to the darkness of The Dark Knight. Christopher Nolan is also executive producing the movie. It has a very dark feeling to it, and less of a black and white type of Superman. It’s going to be a little edgier.
On Playing Superman's Mother:
Quote:
You know, if the scenes weren’t well written and they weren’t emotional enough, I would have had a problem because you are aware of the heroic moments, but mostly I didn’t feel that way, at all. They were just really good, dramatic scenes for me.
On Working With Green Screen:
Quote:
I wasn’t distracted, at all. It was very quiet and very well kept. People could not bring cameras or phones into the set, so it was very work-oriented. At the end of the day, you really want one thing, which is for your scenes to work. For me, that was great.

I hope this "edginess/darkness" is not taken too extreme........

Superman still needs to be a symbol of light and hope.......

I'm pretty sure they said that the world he lives in is dark and edgy and that he is the symbol of hope and the light to lead the way out of the dark

It's funny how they all keep refering to TDK. I wonder if they were told to say that or that was just the common reference on set.

I guess they're making him a gray type of guy rather than black-and-white.

Either way, it helps with the hype, I guess.

Guys, I need a little help with translation...what's the meaning of "edgy" in this context?

It's not clear the difference between dark and edgy for me.

I think "edgy" here means taking more risks, being more unconventional. Also being more modern and relevant.

I don't expect Superman to be so different as to be dark and tortured and not what you expect. He will still be kind, humble, and fighting for the greater good etc., just that his motivations to be that way are explored in greater depth.
