"taking more risks, being more unconventional. Also being more modern and relevant."

Yeah, definitely. To be a lot less black and white than we've seen before, also regarding both the hero and the villains.

I also think in this particular case they refer to a harder or more hard-hitting Superman who'll probably take some good beatings while delivering a few devastating blows himself. Yeah, expect the action to be intense and slightly scary. There might even be casualties.

Oh yeah, I also hope they step it up in terms of action.

Yeah, I"m getting the feeling that "edgy" is going to pop up a lot in the interviews for the movie.

It might get really old even before all the PR starts where they'll no doubt market it as Nolan's Batman-version of Superman.

I don't expect Superman to be so different as to be dark and tortured and not what you expect. He will still be kind, humble, and fighting for the greater good etc., just that his motivations to be that way are explored in greater depth.
I hope you are both right.

and I want Lara to have a bigger/more important role here in MOS.

Usually, it's Jor-El who gets most of the spotlight with Lara taking a backseat. I want both parents to be equally important to Kal.

Same with the Kents.

It might get old to us, but it's the smartest move for priming up the general audience.

It's kind of sadly true. The general audience need something easy to grab on to and Batman is just more easily embraced whereas you get a lot of people resistant to Superman.

Smartest and most sanely obvious thing to do in this business. Of course that's the route to go and I dont mind either. As long as it doesnt overshadow Snyder and his achievements.

Nice twist that Lara would be such a strong willed character with great depth. Not to mention she is widowed before Krypton's end.

Agreed. I thought Zurer did a fine job as Lara. Odd as it sounds, I kind of saw Superman in her. Maybe it was the dark curly locks or maybe it was the way she carried herself, conveying a quiet strength that spoke volumes.

Poor Lara. Her husband dies as her son leaves forever, and then she's alone as Krypton starts to explode.

This, IMO, was one of the best scenes in the movie. Especially when she said "Hopefully you(Kal-El) can make Earth a better planet that Krypton".

As she was saying that while Krypton was exploding, I got goosebumps.

Not to ashamed to admit I cried when she was putting the baby in the ship.

Yes. That's what Superman is ABOUT. At first I thought she was wooden, then I realized that she was probably "bred" to be more emotionally reserved, and this whole thing kind of "broke" her emotional walls down.

As for killing Jor-El, it makes me think of Cain and Abel, each character sacrificing to a higher power, but one being corrupt, leading to the slaughter of another. That's probably intentional.

I think Mos's take on the destruction of Krypton, along with Jor-el's and Lara's final moments with a baby Kal-el was perhaps the most emotional live action take on those moments from the superman canon.

I liked her performance. Too bad she had only 3 lines in the movie.

I was expecting we'd get an AI version of her too.

The last shot of her and her parting words on Krypton got to me a bit.

I thought she was the weakest of the cast. Not to say that she was terrible or anything, but there were points where I didn't think she was convincing. She was okay overall.

I know what you mean.

It adds an emotional impact as it's a different twist as this is the first time that Lara is alone before the destruction of Krypton usually she and Jor-El die together.
