They would never turn the core game into an FPS. People heard the words FPS and just freaked out. I mean technically there is a Dead Space FPS, for the Wii and Move.

The MP will most likely be tacked on, again, like it was in DS2, but it won't be an FPS. Dont know where you got that from.

First Look At Dead Space 3's Co-Op Partner?

Earlier this month, our sources told us that Dead Space 3 will feature co-op. That report described the game’s co-op partner as “a man with a gnarly scar on his face, an engineering RIG of his own, and glowing red eyes peering from his helmet.” Now, it looks like we may have our first look at him.

A new animated short released by EA today features a character who fits that description to a tee. According to the video’s YouTube description, the character is Earthgov Sergeant John Carver. Carver “witnesses an attack on the Marker Site he guards which changes his life forever,” leading him to “fight his way through a colony now in complete chaos as he begins to discover how important he is in fighting the Necromorph plague."

That has to be a hint to Dead Space 3. Apart from the character, the snowy terrain featured in the trailer is also consistent with rumors that the game will take place on an ice planet. Hopefully, we'll get a full reveal at E3 next week.

I was honestly hoping for co-op soon after DS2, the third game I believe definitely needed to bring something new to the table (though obviously I would prefer that they keep the core gameplay model) but I was also hoping the second player would be Ellie who seemed to have formed something of a duo with Isaac by the end of the game, if she gets sidelined I will seriously be displeased. My interest level in Isaac sharing the spotlight with Carver is about zero.

I don't think so. Early leaks claim that the co-op partner is an individual with a scar on his face and red lights emitting from his helmet. This Carver guy, fits that's description to the letter.

The images definitely point towards a co-op multiplayer and also confirms the snowy planet setting. One thing I don't like is the image of a necromorph/infected person carrying a gun, it seems a bit silly so I hope it isn't a major part of the game. But aside from that, it looks great. E3 can't come soon enough.

Those screenshots have me stoked, but also worried that the first screenshots they decided to release are purely focused on the MP/co-op aspect.

God I seriously hope they don't f this up.

Ditto, I want to see what this cover mechanic they've been talking about is. Also I know its just a few screenshots but I think its telling that Isaac doesn't seem to have his plasma cutter equipped in favor of a more traditional looking machine gun.

At least the game looks nice if nothing else.

I think it's a self-made one. I could just be speculating, but the screenshot with Issac aiming the gun and we see the ammo reticle kinda makes it look like Issac built one out of found parts. It just has the same kinda look as the plasma cutter with the dula beams and the fact that it has a pretty low ammo counter for an assault rifle. (This could just be the screnshot.)

Still, I think it looks nice. Issac's new look with the fur and leather on him is a nice touch.

The screens look great, I'm already getting excited. The new guy's rig looks sick ass hell, very menacing. I got no issues with the co-op stuff, and cover based shooting. I wanted to see the more military side of the Dead Space universe, so if they're planning on bringing in more military weapons, I'm down. SOOOOOOOO glad it didn't end up a FPS though. Man I was sure EA was gonna screw us with that one. Can't wait to see more.

Agreed. Dead Space has become one of my favorite new IPs in recent years.

I loved DS and DS2 too much to write this one off yet, but I was deff feeling DS2s early info more than what I am here. Looking forward to hearing more tho
