Is Captain America's squad in the film the Howling Commandos? Or is it some other team?

The Howling Commandos. That is what they're referred to in the promos.
In the commentary, however, they're called the Invaders. But really, they're closer to the Howling Commandos in being an elite combat unit made of mostly unpowered soldiers. |

Thanks for that. After a bit o' research it seems like its equal parts both teams.
Invaders included: Captain America, Bucky Barnes and Union Jack Howlers included: Dum Dum Dugan, Gabe Jones and occasionally Jim Morita but thats a good point, Invaders were regarded as a super powered team. |

It's a little more complicated, actually.
Invaders included Cap and Bucky. Howling Commandos included Dugan and Gabe. Morita and Dernier were recurring allies of the Howling Commandos, but never real members. Falsworth is a bit of a doozy. On the one hand, yes, Union Jack was in the Invaders, but that was Brian Falsworth. The one in the movie is James Falworoth, Brian's father, who used to be Union Jack back in WWI (the movie moved him ahead, time-wise). At the same time, Falsworth seems to be visually patterned after Pinky Pinkerton, who was a member of the Howling Commandos. |
