Why don't you try making a Whitney Appreciation thread in the Music and Books section?

You should make her memorial thread in the book & music section. This woman had the voice of an angel.

I'm devastated... R.I.P. Whitney Houston.

We have lost a legend.

Heaven just got a fine angel for its choir.

terrible news..

Wow, I was shocked when I saw the news of Whitney's passing.

For me this will be her defining moment:
VIDEO-CLick to Watch!:

No singer ever sang that song and gave it justice. I loved all her hits, but singing the National Anthem the way she did gave me goosepimples, and still does to this day.

Godspeed Whitney. And Bobby Brown had better never appear in public again.

It seems to me that moments like this bring the worst out of Twitter. They can get pretty disrespectful on there.

Oh stop being such an attention seeker, the moment I saw a mod had merged this I spoke to danoyse about setting something seperate up for Whitney given her level of fame, all you are doing is soap boxing man, let us handle it, it was not done by the mod with any malice.

Not a forum no but he'd have a thread certainly since he's a key figure in the actual culture this site is based around.

Exactly. I grew up listening to Whitney Houston so I'm as saddened by this as everyone else is.

It was brought up quickly whether she should have her own thread, and everyone agreed immediately that she should. And now we have one.

No one merged the thread out of spite.

Jeez... some posters just love to be morally outraged or self-righteous. A RIP Celebrity thread is good 'nuff. For some people Whitney was really big (and RIP to her), but some of us mourned more for the lesser-known celebrities that have passed recently (in my case Andy Whitfield, Patrice O'Neal and Chris Hitchens all upset me), but we didn't pester mods to put our departed celebrities on pedestals above all others. It screams of ... I hate to say this, considering the circumstances.... diva-like behavior. Sorry a celebrity you really liked is gone, but I don't think she deserves to be elevated above all the other talented people in this thread.

Sad news. She definitely had an incredible voice. I'm guessing the drugs finally took their toll.

Agreed. Plus, what can be said in a separate thread that can't be said here?

Its not about the material or content. Its about the discussion. The point of this thread is because people like Andy Whitfield and Patrice O'Neal (whom I have never heard of and I mean that with absolutely no disrespect, rip whoever they are) are not well known. So in the discussion you will not get many responses. Therefore it is logical to make one big single thread for them. If you are really well known though and you pass away you should certainly have your own thread because you will get a discussion going. It doesn't matter if you are as loved as Michael Jackson or as hated as say Paris Hilton; its about being well known and being able to make a discussion. By this logic, there shouldn't really even be a celebrity forum...all things celebrity should just be discussed in a giant thread.

Not that this really matters in the grand scheme of things. I mean this is a superhero forum for crying out loud

For me Whitney Houston was the best female singer ever. I actually grew up with her music. She had a voice you only find once in 100 years (or more). Unfortunately another great icon has died and she will be remembered as one. My heart goes out to her family. Sad another one of the greatest artists of this generation had to go... Not entirely surprising, but still shocked. Especially since she seemed to be doing so much better recently.
