If there is padding in Cavill's suit, it isn't much. Not only has Cavill put on mass but it is lean muscle mass. I don't think you guys realize how impressive that is for the amount of time he had. A couple people here kept saying how they wished he looked like Evans from Captain America. If you compare physiques, Cavill is much leaner.

what's more crazy is the abs on the suit almost match his real life abs. That's crazy.

I was thinking that.

I would agree that the material ENHANCES them, but obviously only enhances what is already there with the thick and muscle hugging material.

Seriously.

The comic appeared in the late 1930's, and it was inconceivable that a black man could run a major US newspaper. Heck even as late the CR films, no one would have made PW, black. But honestly, this is 2011, and unless you live in South Carolina, we are in the 21'st century. So Perry White, the editor of a major american newspaper, like the NY Times, the Washington Post, the LA Times, the Chicago Tribune, could only be white, well, we have hit a new low, as fans of Superman.

The comics have reflected their times, let us reflect ours.

Seriously, the racism is scary.
Perry's race change doesn't bother me in the slightest. I never care when secondary characters have their races changed. I don't even read the comics so I'm definitely not a purist and can certainly understand why a director would want to introduce some diversity into a movie.

Both Hugh and Henry are naturally skinny Ectomorphs, and that makes the level of muscle mass they have achieved all the more impressive.

That and it's Laurence Fishburne. How upset could one be?

While I think he looks great... Something doesn't sit quite so well with me, albeit ever so slightly, about showing a shirtless Superman. Just feels like it doesn't belong. *shrugs* Like when Supes did it with Lois in Superman II.

Okay MAOR over reaction alert.

I included 'Perry is black' in a list of changes that I wouldn't have voted for before annoucement, and that add to a list of things that weren't what I wanted for this film.

I had no particular overt reaction to it whatsoever, other than it being a shame that he looks nothing like his comics counter part. It was a change that I got over very quickly and put behind me, especially since I love Fishburne. Have also got on board with Zod being the villain after reading a lot of promising interviews with Michael Shannon, and got used to Russell Crowe as I think his star power has to be seen as a positive.

My post was simply a comment on the amount of things that I would never have agreed were for the best, that have been changed and I have adjusted to, and whether or not that has a limit.

And FYI, I have much less of a problem with Perry being played by a black actor than I do with Lois being ginger.

This has nothing to do with racism, and I find the accusation offensive.

There is NOTHING wrong with objecting to drastic visual changes to a comic characters representation, whether it is race, hair colour, gender, fashion, eye colour... whatever!

Cavill, way to be dedicated to the role!
I guess he saves someone here.

Dude still has padding under his suit so it can look "perfect" just like the comics. They do it for everyone with "tights."
