And why is Jeremy Renner in both Mission Impossible and Bourne? Has Hollywood run out of actors for this type of secret agent action films? |

The absence of Michelle Monaghan is less of an issue for me. She's part of Ethan's home life that we never got a glimpse of until part 3. If Ethan's on the job for the whole movie, she wouldn't be in it. Unless they throw in a quick phone call home or something. |

I thought MI 3 was the best in the series and I am definitely looking forward to Ghost Protocol. Also Paula Patton is on point in those pictures Whoo.

I'm also curious about Brad Bird doing a live-action film.

Early reviews seem to indicate its a great action flick. Brad Birds looks to have made a successful transition.
Edit: Good movie with great action, not just mindless action.

I think the first is the bear, part 3 being very entertaining and more in time with the first with the second mindless fun but tedious.

I think the second one is pretty great, considering John Woo was behind the helm and had to tame the violence a bit. But it's simple plot was even mentioned in the movie,
Luther: " That simple huh? Ethan: "Why not?" It still had it's espinoge feel, along with great action. Although I think de Palmas movie was much more centered on the espionage, the second showed how well Ethan was trained in guns, combat, etc, and the third shows the other tricks, like the lip reading and other gadgets. I like that, because it does feel like a "new episode" each time, which is what Tom wanted from the beginning. But, back to Ghost Protocol, I'm pumped for this one, and I hope Simon Peggs character will appear in a few more M:I movies. I don't mind seeing Luther move on.

I also forget how Emilio Estevez had a random uncredited cameo in the first film.

By now, if I was a terrorist and Ethan shows up at my front door, I'd be like, "Wow, Ethan. You're here. Disavowed again? Great, come in. First I'll tell you my plan in detail, and then I have some henchmen you can kill."

I like M:I 2, maybe it gets a little bit over the top on certain scenes. Woo has a particular way of filming, and specially on repeated viewings you start to notice all the little things that keep the movie apart from 1 and 3.

It's completely different from 1 & 3. Noticeable immediately.
