I was really looking forward to that. Except I always thought he looked like a lunk.

I mean, sure the colors for Supes are clearly SR based, but the design looks GREAT! IMO, this should've been made.
to be frank, the upper portion, MOS is better. the cape attachment and the fold look more elegant and style. and the metalic / gold-ish effect on the \S/ is more cool.

this... just look like a normal cosplay suit on a body builder.

I personally feel that DC did it as a business decision-that they decided that because of changes in the comics market and changes in comics themselves, moving towards a darker, more cynical style, that Batman would serve them better as he fit that style more than Superman could. Plus-and this is the big one-DC had been getting sued off and on since the late 40's by Siegel and Shuster and they had to know more lawsuits were possible. So they could invest in Superman, a character whose rights they might not always 100% control and whose costs in royalities to the creators and their heirs could possibly go up, or they could make Batman, who was almost as famous as Superman, their flagship character and they knew his rights and cost were under control. As a pure business decision, it's really hard to argue with-look at the results.
I think it's pretty clear you're taking this **** too seriously. Everybody has the version of Superman they love, but it's also interesting to see what other people's Superman looks like in new contexts.

While I love Cavill's physique and am very impressed, I'd have to say that this is not proof. He looks bigger in the suit. I definitely think there is muscle padding in it, just look at the difference in the size of his upper arms. However, I'd say the reason the suit padding works so well is because he has a great physique already. The padding and contouring just prevents the skin tight material from washing out his definition and hard work and simply accentuates what is already there.

The suit is padded. Especially in the crotch area...thank God.

Then really it is just a definition layer added to the costume to compensate for the definition smoothing effect any tight material would do to skin.

Yes that definition layer will obviously make him a little bigger looking in the suit, but IMHO it is not so much difference that the general audience will be able to tell when comparing it to his shirtless scenes.

Keeping in mind that the angles they film him from shirtless will make him look as muscular as possible. Camera distance and angle has a huge effect like that.

No it isn't. He could be as big as Ronnie Coleman and it wouldn't be proof. Muscle suits aren't used to make up for a lack of size or definition. It's to make up for lost size or definition.

Of course he wears a muscle-suit too, no matter how ripped he his. Just to get the most brilliant and live-action realistic, cool-looking definitions in a suit as possible.

I think the suit has a cool alien look but the shape he is in obviously would have pulled off a skin tight all natural physique material.

I don't care that there is a muscle suit, I just dislike the costume itself-for Superman, that is. But the actor in it is excellent as an actor and an impressive physical specimen to boot.

It absolutely does...

The definition of muscle with no shirt doesn't ever translate to the amount of muscle definition we see in that shirt...

They have a muscle suit, but only for the definition that wouldn't show up through fabric...

In regards to Kurosawa from the previous page...

Sure, he may question whether you are or are not a true Superman fan... He may call out reasons why you (whoever you are) are settling for something less than what the original creators wanted for Superman...

But as far as I'm concerned that is his right, just as it is everyone else's right to say what we want about our (favorite?) superhero...

Far as I see, if you don't like it, ignore it. And if you want to debate it, what better place than public forums...?
