It's most likely an update to the current X-Box's dashboard

Well Sony is apparently doing it on the 20th so Microsoft shouldn't be too far behind.
Heck they might surprise us all and do something during the Super Bowl. Now that would be awesome.

With Sony setting their date, I'm totally waiting for a surprise Microsoft event/announcement before then.

Looks like Microsoft has at least four new IPs up their sleeve for next gen.

Thank god. I just looked through my games collection this year and noticed almost every game had a 2 or 3 attached to it. Give us some kickass new IPs to play with.

Exactly what XBox needs! If true guess they've been saving all of them for next gen as they've barely made anything new for the last few years.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/n...s-Blocked.html
Report: Xbox 720 Will Require Online Connection, Pre-Owned Games Blocked The possibility of this has been mentioned before but guess this is more weight to those rumours. Seems like both PS4 & 720 might be going down this route of blocking pre-owned games at least. Would only really work if they both did it.

If that turns out to be true then I definitely won't be getting one.

Screw that. This will get a ton of backlash.

Even if it doesn't happen now nearly everything will be digital & online dependant at some point in the not too distant future. Took about 10 years for music, maybe another 10 years for films & games to convert almost fully. Although I don't know why you can't play single player games offline after you've downloaded them to your hard drive.

If it blocks pre-owns, then I won't be buying one. It's that simple. There are a lot of games that I do want to play, but I don't have $60.00 to drop on a game I'll play only once, and with Blockbuster going belly up, renting is no longer and option. Sony and Microsoft will shoot themselves in the foot if they block used games.

There would have to be a big price reduction of all middle & lower tier games at launch for them to sell any at all with this system!

If this is true, I won't be buying one either. I'll be getting a PS4 if that doesn't have it. If both have it, I'll be fine with my 360 or even buying Apple tv and sticking to entertainment.

Meanwhile, Nintendo sits over in the corner of the club, troll grin ever widening.

If the PS4 and New Xbox have a ban on used games, then Nintendo has an opportunity to leap ahead in the console market. Consumers will be furious if they can no longer purchase used games. For me, the only games I buy new are ones that are kinda time-sensitive in terms of the MP or if I know the game is going to blow me away. The majority of single player games (like the GTA's, Red Dead, etc) I wait until their cheaper and buy them used. Taking that away is the worst thing a console developer could do.

I buy 95% of my games new but this would affect me bc I sell my old games to buy new ones. If I can't do that anymore than it will severely impact the number of games I get a year. I think this will hurt smaller developers who don't do AAA numbers like CoD does.

If Nintendo had released a console that was a bit higher spec they would have just won the next gen. But as it stands people will continue to use their 360s & PS3s without an urgent need to trade up.

This is what a massive percentage of the gaming population does. But also I think gamers are still prepared to spend annually roughly the same amount that they would otherwise spend whatever the system in place and Steam shows that gamers are not as averse to all digital non-transferable games as they think. Especially when the prices fall in line. Simply any non-core games without a big built in fanbase released for $60 at launch will fail. Games with lower development costs will have to get competitive and go for something like a $40 price point at launch IMO.

Re: The next Xbox
I'm always connected to XBL&PSN except when my Internet goes out for a few minutes/hrs or when I play on my bro in laws Xbox at my mother in law's home and I mostly buy games new..But it'd still impact me/my friends&family and it'd just be totally selfish on MS&Sony's parts,They'd be losing fans/customers and be putting businesses such as Gamefly&Gamestop out of business.
IF MS&Sony does this then I'll jump back to Nintendo(GameCube was my last Nintendo product)..Although I'm planning on getting Valve's console and so I might just get that or Xbox&Valve's |
