Default 80s comics help!?

I have yet to read John Byrnes famous 6-issue redo, Man of Steel. I've been meaning to for years but I ever got around to it. My question is does the series continue after those six issues under Byrne or a new writer? If so, what issue?

After the Man of Steel mini-series, all the Superman comics (Adventures of Superman, Superman, Action Comics) continued the story and were written and mostly drawn by Byrne, as well as Jerry Ordway and others.

If you check out the Man of Steel trade paperbacks you can see how they fit together. There are eight volumes so far.

For my money, it's the greatest era of Superman comics.
