I think so.

If it tastes sweet and does not contain sugar, I don't trust it.

This includes food additives in general. Sodium Nitrate is another to stay away from. This is found in many processes meats. The less processing, the less junk in it.

So is anything hydrogenated. For that you have to look at the ingredients on the package, as it can "say" zero grams transfat, but that only means less than 1gram per serving, which would be a very high amount. I don't want to take in 500mg per serving or whatever amount, but if it has less than 1gram per serving they can "say" "zero grams of transfat", which is about as deceptive as you can get. Got to look for the word hydrogenated on everything.

Yeah, just stay away from Soda altogether, Spock.
I wouldn't even tell you to drink sports drinks, because those are terrible for you too.
Just drink water, juices that aren't from concentrate, skim milk, maybe coffee if you need that caffeine. Stay away from artificial sweeteners and anything over skim milk.
Honestly, real sugar is better for you than artificial, but you just can't go overboard.
And since you're a man, DO NOT use soy milk.

My dad called me a liar.

I was at Rec center and was on the bike there inside. In 20 minutes I did 6.1 miles. Before that I jogged/ran 2.5 miles on the trail around the Rec Center Complex. Of course a exercise bike and a actual bike are two different things, I assume. My full speed on a exercise bike in the Rec center is 26 mph.

Been jogging since early Jan. Try to do it everyday. Don't have the best shoes, it's called a money situation. Ya know being single and lonely...some guys would drink, hurt themselves, binge eat, I rather exercise. Sometimes to the breaking point--where my body is just giving up--but I dig deep to hit another 1/4th or 1/2 mile. And I like it. Feels good. The biking inside Rec center I can only afford to do once or twice a week. But the track outside is free.

Food wise is just...whatever. Slowly trying to treat food as fuel. Addicted as always to coke aka soda, and coffee. Quit the energy drinks. Um, started the last two days drinking a Powerade Ion sugarfree. 0 calories. Drink a bit before my 2.5 miles, drink the rest afterwards or throughout the night.

Today was easier on the trail. In the 50's...legs getting stronger, mind getting sharper, I think this week I can hit 2.75 without stopping. When I jog/run my speed varies.

And yes, I prefer 1% milk...2% too many calories and sugar. Too sweet. Hell, I love skim milk. As for goals...6 miles I guess by end of year.

I love the new gym I'm going to; only 5 minutes away.
I've lost 28 pounds since September, but I want to lose
another 14 pounds. My major problem is cravings, but
the worst thing I'll do is sip on a diet coke once a week.

I started buying protein bars. The brand is My Bar. I'll eat one
for breakfast or lunch as a meal replacement maybe once a week.

I make a lot of home made soups, the rock!

Rather have caffeine in there...at least for now.

I tried starting a fitness program but i failed miserable once school started again after Christmas break. I started again today and am hoping to keep it up. My routine is treadmill 20 mins first thing in the morning, then 200 crunches. Havent dared go back into push ups since i've been having an elbow problem.

My treadmill goes at a number 6 incline before, but i ran flat today and was able to do twice the distance of jogging than i normally do. Im tempted to stay flat but part of me wants to go back to incline.

What do you guys think? flat or incline? and how can i keep myself from getting board. I live in a busy city area so jogging outdoors isnt much of an option.

If you try to do much you will probably not stick with it I find. If you do too little, you get indulgent and lazy and end up going off it.

as most of yall know, i coach Little League softball and it's very important to me. I spent most of my childhood out at those fields and they helped make me who i am today.

Our little league has a chance to win a professional makeover by the Baltimore Orioles Triple AAA team's field crew! (The Norfolk Tides if you've heard of them) We are currently in 2nd place and the contest ends tomorrow. This would be a great thing for our community, especially the children. gives them a positive atmosphere and a chance to play sports, stay active and most important of all, stay off the streets. we have baseball and softball ages 4-16, and the biggest challenger division in the city, which is for children with disabilities. this will help them the most as many on the team are confined to wheelchairs.

to vote, all you have to do is Like the photo representing our league. Each LIKE counts as a VOTE. We are currently in 2nd and less than a 100 votes behind 1st. Trying to do everything I can to help the kids so if you could please vote, I'd appreciate it.

if the link takes you to the album instead, we are photo 19: OVLL. again, thank you so much.

I hate to talk positively about exercise or making any progress (because the moment I start to do it regularly, I'm sure I'll wake up one day 80lbs heavier as a cosmic joke), but all of my size 38 pants are now too big. I used to wear 42s.

On the opposite spectrum, I've spent the whole day cooking and had double portions of everything at dinner. I'm going to pay for it I know, but I couldn't help myself today.

Finally did 3 miles of jogging today. As usual, threw in some running.

Tomorrow I'll do a mile on the trail, then 20 minutes on a bike inside.

At the moment, I can't afford a gym membership. And outside of a set of 20-pound dumbells, I don't have any weights. All the same, I want to start strength training.

Anyone care to recommend some chest, shoulder, and back excerises that I can do at home and without weights?

I do have a treadmill, though. So cardio is taken care of.

So it looks like I'm not going to be able to go to the gym for at least a week. I somehow got a boil in my thigh, and it hurts like a b****. It also hurts when I walk or even move my leg. And... I think i got it from the hot tub at the gym...

you can do a lot with those 20lb weights you have . . . push ups and pull ups are also incredibly underrated . . . look up the exercises they use in P90X; most of them can be found online even if you don't have the videos

also, check this out; I've been doing this lately and it's pretty well-rounded and intense if you do it right:

Default Help me get bigger?

Okay, a couple of things before I start.

I am 15 years old and weigh 125 pounds. I am 5'7. What I want to get done by the end of summer is to be more fit, by getting stronger and with more endurance, (and it wouldn't hurt to look pretty buff).

I have been going to the gym for about a year now, 4 days a week, and I've gotten pretty much no results. The only things I do are bicep curls, bench press and Lat Pulldowns. The maximum I can do for bicep curls are 15 pounds, and I usually do 10 curls about 5 times.

For the Lat Pulldown, I can do 90 pounds and I also do that 10 times, about 5 times.

I can bench 90 pounds, and I do usually 3 reps of 5.

Can someone actually give me some kind of regimen, or anything I can follow that will give me the results I want? (Get strong, look buff)

Also, preferably I would like to be big by the end of the summer.
