Col. Steve Austin : Josh Duhamel
http://www1.pictures.gi.zimbio.com/T...2epX73Iq9l.jpg http://www.kittyspryde.com/wp-conten...1305213288.jpg Oscar Goldman: Nicholas Cage http://ia.media-imdb.com/images/M/MV...0,214,314_.jpg Dr.Rudy Wells: Kelsey Gramer http://ia.media-imdb.com/images/M/MV...0,214,314_.jpg Jamie Sommers: Jessica Biel http://ia.media-imdb.com/images/M/MV...0,214,314_.jpg Hull : Hugh Jackman I'm really enjoying the ne comic from Dynamite and thought that it would be an awesome movie(yes...it is an old film script by smith).I like Duhamel and think he would be great as Steve Austin and the dude needs more action movies. Grammer can play very smart and funny so he would be awesome also Cage is Cage but I would love to see him take more of a backseat role as a thinker and boss instead of the hero.Jackman is someone I would love to see play a straight up villian |

I was at comic store this past weekend & noticed the new Bionic Man comicbook. It looked very interesting & would definitely welcome a movie adaptation. If they were to develop it into a movie, I'd definitely look at casting someone else other than Duhamel because I believe he might not be suitable for the role.

Whats wrong with Josh? I think he is a pretty good actor and fits the profile. If not him then who? Josh Lucas, Tom Jane, Jackman, Worthington, who would you pick?

Everyone is allowed to express an opinion. Again Ben Browder is a good candidate for The Bionic Man.

Ben Browder is a great choice, looks the part. But at almost 50 he probably would not get chosen. Unfortunately.

Question: Why is this in the Misc. Comics Films section when series was never based on a comic? The series was based on novel Cyborg by Martin Caidin? Yeah comic series came later, after the series but still.

Well I put it here because it was The Bionic Man comic from Dynamite that got me thinking about it....so yeah it is a comic,a tv show, and a novel. I also think it would be cool if he was a firefighter who got injured and turned bionic but thats jus the firefighter in me wishing there could be more superheroes based on us,lol.

For Jaime you need someone who is quite innocent, charming and compassionate to capture the spirit of Lindsay Wagner. Biel would be just another tough ass chick. Quote:
As a modern Oscar Goldman, I suggest Bruce Greenwood. He might not look quite like Richard Anderson, but he brings the same spirit and authority. If he hadn't played Steve Rogers, Chris Evans might not be bad for Steve Austin. The bit where he chases after that assassin after he first gains his powers reminded me of The Six Million Dollar Man. I suppose he could still do two franchises, but Austin is a bit similar to Rogers.

Is it more like the books(not really familiar with them) or more like the TV show? Is it an origin story, or continuing adventures? When is it set - 70's? Now?

I haven't really seen the series since I was a kid, so my memory is a little foggy at best. However I can hazard an educated guess. At the time the show started, bionic replacements for damaged body parts was the realm of science fiction. Even with today's advancements in prosthetics, it's still more science fiction than actual science. So that level of bionic technology is/was highly experimental. Therefore, before optioning to use bionic replacements on people who are, as you said, vital to national security, they had to test it out on a human guinea pig. Colonal Steve Austin was a logical choice, having suffered his accident "in the right place, at the right time" so to speak. Being a test pilot and astronaught, he had the clearance necessary for such a highly classified test. He also had a military background, as becoming an astronaught in NASA first requires training in the US Air Force. If you recall, they gave bionic replacements to a trained soldier calling him The Seven Million Dollar Man. He became mad with power and Steve Austin had to stop him. This is the type of thing they wanted to prevent by trying the technology out on a test subject first. Imagine the trouble that would have occured if they had tested it out on a Green Beret who lost his arms, legs, and eyes in a mortar attack in Vietnam. They would have a hell of a time stopping him if he had gone mad with the power. |

It's entirely free. With Real Player you could even download it.

In the 6MDM pilot, Austin was actually a civilian astronaut, but that was retconned away and put back in line with the novel so that he was Colonel Steve Austin for the remainder of the series, who was a military test pilot. As for Jaime Sommers, it was Steve Austin who begged Oscar Goldman to give her bionic replacements after her parachute accident, suggesting that she could work for the OSI, but then he tried to go back on his word afterwards, but Goldman would hear none of it. Jaime started rejecting her bionics and died on the operating table, but was brought back to life because the fans demanded it but in the series it was because of that doctor, Michael Marcetti, who used some revolutionary cryogenic procedure that allowed Jaime to be put into a frozen state while they were able to operate. However, Marcetti later started hitting on her in front of Steve Austin and, because she had lost her memory and was extremely grateful to Marcetti, she kind of reciprocated. All the while, Austin was very gracious about it, even though another man was taking advantage of his fiance. Another man would've decked him.
