It's been so dead for so long, I do not have a hard time believing that they didn't expect such a surge. Especially in the middle of all the big holiday releases.

I'm downloading an update right now, I haven't popped this in in months. I am super bummed that they put a cap on money, and the premium is only like 2,000? I had way more than that saved up on my first character.

You still have some access to that. It's put into escrow, or something, so if you drop under 2K and have more saved up it will refill. I think.

****ing awesome. Downloading it now. I thought by free to play it meant no monthly subscriptions.

The game is free to download and play, bu there are 3 tiers of account level now.
http://www.dcuniverseonline.com/free/

Basically if you never give them any money, you can only make 2 characters and have more limited inventory, money, chat etc..

If you give them at least $5 (in the store, for dlc, etc...) you can make 6 characters and have less of a limit on other things.

If you continue to pay monthly for the game, you can make 24 characters and there aren't really any limits placed on your account.

The 5 dollars has to be sent in the game? That does not include the 10 dollar Green Lantern DLC does it?

I dl'ed this piece of **** in just a few hours while I played WoW the other night but every time I get started making a character it randomly dumps me back to the world selection screen. That's like half a dozen times now. Maybe I'll try again this weekend.

And how do you download that GL DLC anyways? I went into the Playstation Store and got it but it never downloaded anything. I even checked downloads to see if it was there.

Can I delete a character to reopen a space? If so, I'm fine with my 2. If not, I may have to upgrade to the 6. I change my mind way to often to have only 2 choices at getting it right.

I think you have to access it through the in game marketplace for now, and it does count as the $5 dollars that will bump you up to a premium member.

For those wondering the GL DLC totally counts as money spent towards the game. I have premium. So..if you wanted to create a GL that's kinda a plus.

same here. Had a new character all made and hit ok only to find out the world is back down. If this is how the game has always been no wonder it went free to play.

The worlds are down for maintenance, stop trying to make characters right now.

is the 2 character limit tied to your PSN user id?? each PSN id = 2 characters?

so, if you want more than 2 characters, you can work around the limitation by using another PSN id?

would that work?

So it seems the world is back but now I have to wait in line to log in. So I wasted $15 to become a premium player so I can wait.

Dude, you could've become premium by buying the GL DLC which is 10 dollars and a one time fee.

So if you just buy the glc you get bumped to premium? I feel a bit cheated since I was dumping money since launch. Oh well.

As far as voice chat here is a tip. As soon as you log in each time go to the vc volume in options. Just move the volume up then back to where you had it or want it. It usually fixes the static. Also if it is still bad tell whoever is talking to do the same. It will clear their end up as well. also don't forget you can adjust each players volume individualy. Use the control pad when in a group and select their name then adjust volume. This won't clear them up but you can turn them down atleast. just make sure to toggle the voice volume in your options each time you log in it usually works.
