I would not be surprised with this theory, and other rumors circulating around have also supported this......

I don't think you understand....this is not a theory. I know someone in the postproduction of the film....it's fact.

Could tell you something about 'John' Blake that might surprise you, and it's not exactly the edit above.

Not...exactly.

Interesting! I assume his real name isn't Azrael Blake or Nightwing Blake.

They might know if Peter gets known as a photographer and/or scientist. But the scene is very clear explaining that they're way too moved by Peter's sacrifice and thankful to him for saving their lives to betray him.

You want stupid, how about that wrestling place guy who saw Peter's face, saw him as the "Human Spider," then saw him letting the burglar go away and yet he couldn't make the connection when Spiderman got public.

If Bruce has achieved his goal and become the symbol for the people of Gotham to such an extent that he now feels he can retire, what would be the point of 'passing the torch' to anyone? Isn't that the point that Batman himself (or anyone similar) wouldn't be needed any more?

I think Gotham could always use a silent guardian or a watchful protector.

Not saying I think this will happen, I don't think it's likely at all but it would be a pretty cool ending. A kind of montage in the same vein as the conclusion to 'Six Feet Under' or even the opening credits to 'Watchmen' in which we see the rest of Batman's career, culminating in a grey haired, aged Bruce looking up at the batsignal over a futuristic skyline of Gotham.

No disrespect meant, but we've all heard this kind of thing before, someone claiming insider info that eventually turns out to be major BS. So, I hope you'll understand if I choose not to believe you until the movie comes out and proves you right (or wrong, if it comes too that.)

from empire magazine. TDKR is happening 8 years after TDK.

fans said that they want Batman to do this forever. in TDK this is what happened IMO. that he would do this forever. but no human can live forever. and TDKR will show that after everything Batman has done there comes a day when everything is finished.

If this happens 8 years after TDK, I guess we know another reason why Batman will need to be reinvented in the next series.

Exactly. People were just assuming this picked up right after TDK, but this new revelation of the time span lends even further credence to what I've been saying from the start. Batman will not be continuing after this film in one form or another.

In the Nolanverse, he's basically been Batman a decade. Maybe he's even disappeared a few years by the start of TDKR. Point being, he's had a pretty lengthy career. And it's not at all unreasonable for Bruce to decide he's made the difference he set out to make

Yeah, I have to concede this 8 year span throws a whole new spin on things.

"These are not the comics, these things don't go on forever"

In a more realistically grounded world sometime Batman has gotta come to an end. In this world he actually ages like a normal man. He is not something that always exists with indefinite number of stories and adventures like in the comics.

How old will Bruce be in this film? Anyone know what age he was in TDK or BB?

He had a 30th birthday in Begins.

30 in Begins and 31/32 (Joker's "a year ago" line) in TDK, right?

So that makes him 39/40ish in TDKR.

Yeah right, me.

So let's say he has fought crime for 9-10 years. That's alot for a man to take. No wonder he hits a brickwall, also considering he still has that emotional pain of his that he can't get rid of. Frozen in time.

8 years huh? Well I guess Robin isn't in a "crib somewhere" anymore. So I guess that character just doesn't exist in this universe? No adoptions, no crime fighting partner?

I always think Nolan's comment about him "being in a crib somewhere" was in regards to if another director took the helm after Begins. He didn't realize what a hit his "vision" would be with fans and audiences alike. After creating The Dark Knight and Inception which gained WB 2m dollars, he now has license to just say "screw Robin" for his universe

I was guessing a few years, which was why I had theorized Batman prob had disappeared for a time when TDKR begins.

I was thinking maybe 3, not 8.

Retirement and death are back on the table, it seems. Nolan is bold, that's for sure.
