How is a comedy romance about zombies anything like Twilight... a serious romance about vampires and werewolves?

Plus this is smarter than TWILIGHT... hell, I'd go as far to say it seems like one of the smartest zombie films in a while in that it uses zombies as a commentary that we are and many people are in this day and age somewhat dead and just stumbling through life. Plus that's just taken from the first thirty seconds or so of the trailer lol.

It does look good but ugh! Can the trailer makers not control them selves!? Always giving away too much.

The trailer gave away the whole movie pretty much

I don't know anything about the book but I genuinely laughed when I watched the trailer. Plus, I really like Hoult.

Just watched the trailer for the first time and I'm not quite sure what to think. It looks like it might be funny on a Zombieland kind of level though.

I only saw a commercial for this. Am I understanding this correctly, he's a zombie but he's starting to feel like a human again?

Yes either that or he's actually being "cured" back into human.

Loved the flashback of everyone on their phones "connecting" with each other.

It seems to be more of a zombie fairy tale than anything. Got a moral to the story and everything.

I don't get a Twilight vibe at all, more like a satirical comedy.

Also, I like Nicholas Hoult.

It seems like TWILIGHT in that it is a love story between a human and a monster. BUT that's not looking at the deeper aspects of it. Her role seems more to serve the crux of the commentary rather than purely on having romance. The love interest brings a whole new side to the commentary. People who are dead (zombies) and people who are teetering on the edge of being dead (humans). Basically it serves a purpose greater than just love interest.

I think people throw out Twilight references too much. They incessantly compare The Hunger Games to Twilight when IMO they're nothing alike and the comparison does THG a disservice.

Zombie Twilight is 100% the first thing that popped into my head when I saw this trailer. A zombie starts to turn human again through the power of LOVE!! It does the same thing that Twilight did to vampires: ruin general rules of the traditional genre in order to spin the story into a teen-romance. I doubt it will be quite as bad, but based on the premise, and the fact that I basically watched the whole movie simply by seeing the trailer, I'm going to pass this one. Plus, the CGI on those skele-zombies look AWFUL. Sheesh.

I think the difference is Twilight expected us to take it seriously, while Warm Bodies looks very tongue-in-cheek.

As an outsider to both franchises (well, I did see the first Twilight movie), I'd say the comparison isn't entirely unjustified. Both franchises are young-adult stories with a female lead and a prominent love story, and they both became a phenomenon very quickly. I mean, there don't seem to be many similarities in the story, but by simple proximity, two huge franchises aimed at the same audience are going to draw comparisons. Just look at how people compare TDKR and The Avengers.
