If the movie is shooting this summer then surely they would need to have a director in place by now? Cant see this being true unless we get an announcement before the end of Feb.

Seems like there are no news of this yet, with the Kick-Ass 2 comic over i must say that a movie can easily do better, there are some good ideas that if better controled by the director and writers, could make this a good sequel.

Agreed. Just finished reading the last comic and while I liked it, they will probably have to make some changes for the movie if they use it. For one thing, the movie surely wouldn't end unresolved to set up a Hit Girl movie.

Well, at least we have one great movie, which is more than can be said for Howard the Duck.

Too bad, as I think they could have taken the book which had a few good ideas and scenes--as well as a lot of Mark Millar shallow excess--and changed it dramatically into something much better. I also thought the idea of doing that so you could revisit these characters as adults in a third movie would be interesting.

Also, Carrie? Who wants to see that again?

I didn't see any recent comment on the movie situation, but in the thread on the comic over at millarworld, Mark Millar said that the plan for the movie was for the 1st third to be based on the Hit-Girl mini-series, and the rest of the movie to be based on KA2.

Okay, so I finished the ending of Kick-Ass 2, and I must say, although I thought the middle portion of part 2 was awful, I did like the final two issues.

BUT.

Hit-Girl spin-off is a tied with KA1-2, it was a build up to KA3. Hit-Girl 2 will go thru KA2-3.

Well it looks like this movie is dead in the water if Moretz is taking on other roles in the meantime. In a way i'm glad, with Vaughn not coming back I didnt want to see an inferior sequel. But at the same time, if they got the right person it might have been great. So there is good and bad in this news for me.

I just kind of wish they hadn't so heavily set it up for a sequel.

I mean, I'm quite happy for it to have been a stand alone movie, but that ending basically makes it seem 'unfinished', which just kind of bugs me.

^Yeah I know what you mean, the story finished but it was left open for a continuation definately. It is a shame but its still nice to have one awesome movie.

The comic was pretty good, and in the right hands would make a good movie.

It's too bad Chloe Moretz is signed on for a Carrie remake and can't come back as Hit-Girl. That certainly puts a kink in any plans to make the movie. But doesn't necessarily mean those plans are dead. Chloe was getting a little old to play the role anyway, so Hit-Girl probably was going to be recast regardless of her availability.

I'm not saying it will be made. Just that all hope isn't necessarily lost.

As much as I like KA1, I'd much rather have Vaugh directing XM:FC2 than KA2. Don't get me wrong I don't see other directors doing a better job with KA franchise, but FC2 holds a lot more potential than KA2. Besides seeing Fassenbender in a legitimate Magneto outfit at the end of FC1 just makes me hungry for more.
