Airwings, you just need a bit more time.

I was on the forums in June 2010, but I didn't get any noms last year. You can't expect people to have gotten to know you well enough in a year unless your participating heavily in the community forum, games, the lounge etc (which I kind of fail to do).

Anyway, Thebumwhowalks, Good luck with the Dick of the Year award
I was very happy to see some new people make the ballot this year.

I have written more than 300 posts in the DC films board, discussing a dozen known superheroes all through the year. And written a number in Marvel's board too
Started several threads.
I think I could be a candidate for superhero poster of the year.

Congrats to all the nominees. I've submitted my ballot, and eagerly await the awards ceremony.
Except for those elves and their eyes. *shiver* They peer through my soul, and beyond....

I've never been very good at breaking into Diner/Longue conversations and I genuinely have no idea how to play some games

But i'm happy in my little corner of the Man of Steel/Superman threads, as Thebumwhowalks says 'bombarding' them with my posts

See, when you break it down though, those 300 posts in the general Dc boards only equal to about 1 post a day since you started, and the general DC/Marvel boards don't get that much traffic compared to the specialty boards.
I don't go over to those boards myself much, they get less traffic because those boards are more about speculation, whereas the specialist superhero boards are all about movies that are in various stages of production.

Basically, you don't post enough, and don't post in the most popular sections of the forum, in order to even register in people's memories.
Even if you posted the most erudite and insightful posts in the world, people's memories will still drift to the posters they read several times a day, every day, and vote for them because they seem to be trying to participate in the boards more.
Best newbie is about a combination of how well people think you have ingratiated yourself into the forum, in terms of level of participation, enthusiasm and friendliness, I don't even think the insights in your posts count for much on that one, although they will with some more discerning posters.

'Superhero poster of the year' is an entirely different matter, the fact that you think you should be up for sh poster of the year tells me that either you have not been over on the other specialty boards much, or you really think your posts are something else, because relatively speaking, you have not posted much.
I have posted more than you on superhero movies this year, and have been involved in some good debates and held my own, and I didn't think for a second I'd even get one nom for sh poster of the year, never mind being actually up for it.
There are people on here who put a great deal of time and work into their superhero posts, and have done so for many years on these boards. Your posts are a drop in the ocean compared to theirs.

and speaking in general...You gotta look at it like politics, why do you think politicians are desperate for money for advertising, and to get the best advertisers working for them? Because that will get you more votes than actually doing anything worthy. So the more you post, the more chance you will get nominated, in some cases, because people are more likely to vote for their friends than someone they don't like, doesn't matter what they actually type in their posts.
That is just the way of the world.

edit: and just one more thing man, I don't know if it's such a good idea to use that font you are using, you may want your posts to stand out, but what that font actually does is make your posts more difficult to read, the 'print' is really faint, and that is especially not good on a bright electronic screen.
All you have to do to make your posts stand out is to type up good posts, you are not doing yourself any favours with that font imo.
If people need to strain their eyes to read your posts, then they might get a headache, and could just ignore them next time.

Then again, it's just a fake award on a message board so you know, not exactly that big a deal.

eh, I'm sure winning an award has brightened someone's day, so y'know, all the fun of the fair. But of course there is a po-faced red-faced brigade around here who will poo poo anything and everything, so y'know, I don't know what would brighten their day, maybe th eutter destrcution of people they don't like? haha
all i know is, if you are posting regularly with that icon at the end of your posts, you are already an old grumpa, your youth has been spent, I don't care what age you are.

You, out of everyone, should know it means everything.

We can't all have your looks Anuby. Some of us need internet awards.

I might make a trophy. I'll inscribe it with whatever place I come (1st, 2nd or 3rd), hold it up next to my face and take a picture

Will that make the elves happy?

i kinda find it ironic that you say this, considering your posts are extremely long and jumbled which is not favorable to the eyes either.

i must admit, many of your posts fall into the tl;dr category for me
