Just read this article and this stood out.

"A lot of people are wondering about the fluidity of animation", says Jacob Minkoff, lead designer on The Last of Us.


"When you push the punch button, it fires a bunch of rays around the game world, and says 'What's nearby?'. Oh, there's a wall nearby. Or there's a desk nearby. So if you press the punch button and make contact, it will smash this guy against the wall".The result is that fights can look different every time you play, subject to the situation.


"We've developed this engine over four games now, over a period of six years, and have a system that dynamically looks around and sees contextually what sort of animations would be right to play in the area", reveals Minkoff.


"For instance, maybe he'll throw a punch and succeed, and the guy hits the wall, or fail and hit his hand against the wall, and go 'Ow!'. We have this library of dozens and dozens of animations streaming off the disc at all times based on what's happening in the environment".

Insane what they are doing on PS3. Can only imagine what their engine will be like on PS4.

Yeah, but I mean more so in terms of the visuals. The book describes every thing covered in ash, thick fog, with grey snow and ash falling from the sky. Having to sneak around and fight baddies in an environment lie that would be bone chilling.

That's true, but I feel like the washed out gray has been done in a lot of games before and I like the looks they're going for with this. It's less of a full ecological disaster and more just the removal of most people and civilized society. It's closer to I Am Legend where nature has started to reclaim the city.

They really are pushing the envelope.

Sounds interesting, sort of like how in Uncharted three if you are in the right place you can smash a guy into a table, hit him with a fish or a table, or like run him over a bar stand.

The game will be demoed on Jimmy Fallon tomorrow night. I bet they take a more stealthy approach and less shotgun to face. Lol.

So two days ago I showed my buddy, who is a staunch 360 fanboy, the demo for this game. I just got a text from him saying he bought a ps3 and is preordering the game, lol.

We have very little details on it. They have said it will have some form of MP and now they have just eliminated Co-Op in the main campaign as an option.

They also offered a red with black text and a black with black text, but I already have a KZ3 shirt that is red/black text and wasn't sure about the black/black text one. I'm very happy with my choice though. We were also suppose to get some signed art, but it wasn't with the shirt. Hopefully it is in a separate parcel.
