I've been away for two weeks, all I know is Joss is on for A2 and that there is probably going to be a live action Avengers series (o...kay). Update me

Hmm, what's happened since then.
Did you know Kathy Bates got cast as Ms Marvel?

Doesn't say anything about The Avengers. ![]() Plus, in addition to A2, Joss is apparently going to act as a sort of godfather for the whole MCU during Phase II, on up through June 2015 (which *probably* puts an unofficial May 2015 release date for A2). And Alice Krige has a small role in Thor: TDW, where she's "unrecognizable." Nobody knows what that means yet. And Christopher Eccleston is confirmed to play Malekith (Mads Mikkelsen was originally cast, but dropped out to take on the Hannibal Lecter TV series). That's pretty much all to *officially* update for the last 2 weeks.

Off topic, but I was watching a rerun of a Buffy episode where buffy was moaning to xander about getting beat down by some vamp chick and xander says "Lets get the gang together. C'mon Avengers Assemble!" Just thought it was funny

It seems so obvious now in retrospect, what with that line and Xander's eye patch.

I remember reading somewhere that Joss Whedon has put many references to The Avengers in Buffy, showing his desire to direct the movie since even before it was in development, i'm glad they went with his for the movie instead of Favreau or other more obvious choices. And ironically enough, comics book fans are happier to see him back than Buffy fans and Jos Whedon fans in general.

Cool news about Avengers' Tower, but am I the only one that would still like to see the Mansion in one of these movies? I always preferred the Mansion over the Tower.

I have a vague recollection of Xander making a Nick Fury quip around that time as well. Its been a while though.

I like both, out of all the things I want in the movies that's nearer the bottom.

People that dont really know Whedon well think that the references and particular uses of language from Buffy are his trademark style, but both are mostly not present in his ouvre outside of the buffyverse. |

Just my speculation but does anyone reckon one of the big 4 could "die" in TA2? I mean, there has to be monumental consequences for taking on a villain with the power of Thanos, there has to be casualties. Specifically, I'm thinking of Thor (due to relative ease in explaining a resurrection later). It would add great dramatic weight to TA2 and I think Hemsworth has been the standout in regards to the dramatic moments in the MCU thus far.

It joins The Hunger Games 4, The Smurfs 3 and a Pixar film as the only movies with official dates for 2015. May 3, 2002 Spider-Man May 2, 2003 X2: X-Men United May 4, 2007 Spider-Man 3 May 3, 2008 Iron Man May 1, 2009 X-Men Origins: Wolverine May 7, 2010 Iron Man 2 May 6, 2011 Thor May 4, 2012 The Avengers May 3, 2013 Iron Man 3 May 2, 2014 The Amazing Spider-Man 2 May 1, 2015 The Avengers 2 and I'm sure they'll have something for May 2016 and for the rest of the decade.

This is both a long and short wait at the same time because we have quite a few Marvel movies coming along the journey of Phase 2.

They don't have the first week of May release dates. Just showing how in the short history of releasing blockbusters on that weekend it has been dominated by Marvel films from Sony, Fox, Paramount and now Disney.
Entrapment came out in 1999 Gladiator in 2000 The Mummy Returns in 2001 Before Gladiator the studios would release in their big films the second week of May to kick of the summer season. Entrapment had decent returns but Gladiator took it to the next level but was rated R and then Mummy sequel doubled that and then Spider-Man firmly established it as a great weekend to launch blockbusters.

Now that the film is dated and Whedon is locked to return... they need to negotiate a fresh contract for RDJ. Now would be the time while he's recovering from that ankle injury...

I think it's interesting to note that when they first set the dates for the solo sequels they called them Iron Man 3, Thor 2 and Captain America 2. They're calling this "Untitled Avengers Sequel". So it's a a safe bet that it will NOT be titled "The Avengers 2"

The rumours were just Vin Diesel posting two profile pictures of Vision on his FB page and www.unleashthefanboy.com posted it as a 'what is he getting at' thing.
