Oh well, what's done is done, no turning back...

The thing that bugged me tremendously about Brandon was his swimmers body, no matter how much muscle he gained his torso was still gonna look long and lengthy, not the body I envision when I picture Sups in my head.

Cavill has the perfect form for Sups IMO, better then any before him, and to add to this he's pumped like no other before him as-well, he has the absolute perfect body for the role.

I agree with the above. Cavill does have the correct body type. +1 for his genetic code, vs. say someone like Routh that has a really long upper torso and not much in term of shoulders or say Tom Hardy that definitely has very large traps genetically. Cavill seems to have a very proportional look; tight waist, v-shape, arms, shoulders, chest, and back match in size, and legs aren't super skinny (at least in the quads). His look, to me is like that of a wide receiver as far as the fitness level/size/shape.

This works well because he can literally cover his size/fitness level in clothing vs. say a bodybuilder or running back, which fits well into the story of him disappearing into society as Clark.

He had a lean build in SR, but I don't think his torso is noticeably too long and lengthy with his current build. It's a pretty minor thing.

With the right Gym Jones training, it wouldn't have been an issue.

It won't matter in the movie, because they likely are not going to use any shots that dwell on his feet for any length of time, just evidence than Snyder will be making him look as tall/imposing as possible.

Not sure that's definite proof. To me it just looks like he is raised on his toes which makes sense seeing as he is "getting up."

I don't think they are playing the boot game, though they could/should have.

In this shot the boots look very flat. They have a heel but not as much as they could. Maybe when he stands next to someone tall he will be wearing his stunt/stilt boots!

Almost look "sockish"
Very much like the comics I think.

OMG! Henry Cavill does not meet some people's expectations! Superman is apparently 6'2, but people think 6'4 or 5 because of Chris Reeve. Oh the humanity!

That's a Strawman argument. There seems to be a rash of them on here lately.

http://www.nizkor.org/features/fallacies/straw-man.html

Nobody has said Cavill is not tall enough for the role.

Only that Snyder is going to make him look as imposing as possible as Superman, and will probably film him from angles that emphasize taller stature and possibly have a hidden lift in his boots.

From the pictures you posted indeed it doesnt look like it. But on the picture below it look's like the boots do have a lift - looking at Cavill's left leg (that's the right one on the picture, for those who...you know...dont know ) anyway. Although that could simply be poor image quality playing tricks with my eyes.

And in this particular shot Cavill looks quite tall and imposing, as if he just stepped out of a comic book.

It kind of sucks that we probably wont get any more on set pics of Cavill in the suit.

yes, those are the pics where it looks like there are heels.

They could switch back and forth depending on the action.

All the boots, Superman, Zod, Jorel, seem to be the same "flat" looking, thin, tight boot.

What I meant was that they could have made them real BOOTs where they were thick and could easily hide a BIG lift.

Not important. He will be great and look great, just not overly tall.

I think it is a good way to go. As it has been said:

Easier to disguise himself- and due to his buffness, when he does "reveal" himself as Superman, he is impressive in the suit.

Yep, the whole point of "hidden" in the words: hidden boot lifts.

It does not bother me at all if they are doing this, so long as its not too easily noticeable. Even you had to look for it, and it won't jump out as obvious to the GA.

Its a movie, and the whole idea is to make him look like he stepped of the comic book page, whatever tricks they use to get it right I have no objection too.

I agree. Myself, I could care less what they do or what kind of tricks they employ because that will be the last thing on my mind when im watching the movie. But since it's still 18 months away I guess we have nothing better to do than discuss the hidden boot lifts and the shamless, unforgivable lack of 2 inches in Cavill, that darn midget!! .....

didnt they make a bunch of regular sized people in the LOTR look like they were 3 ft tall. I dont understand how people think a few inches in height is going to be a problem. They can make a man fly, shoot lasers from his eyes, smash a truck thru a bunch of trees, run thru fire, im sure they can handle a few inches in height.

LOL, a few inches won't matter on screen, it's just for the sake of arguement. As Mike said, I can care less how they do there tricky work, just give me a dang good movie, I just want to leave that theater with a smile on my face.

Cavill's height is irrelevant. They make Tom Cruise look the height of a normal man in the movies, they can make a 5-11-6'0 guy like Cavill look 6-2.

Clark is 5'11", Superman is 6'2".

Maybe they can digitally shrink Cavill's head a wee bit to make him look taller/broader in proportion.

He's an actor, he can make himself seem different enough with posture and body language to disconnect Clark from Superman, Clark Kent is not just Superman with glasses on, it's an entire set of changes-clothes several sizes too big, slouched posture, high, nervous voice, timid mannerisms, etc. A big part of what made Reeve so good was how different Supes and Clark were and Cavill can do his own version of that. It's a dual role, which is one of the great things about it.

From some angles he does look fine....which is most. But especially with the suit...his head is proportionally on the large side, but not a deal-killer.
