Why did "Bruce" go to Commish Loeb's funeral parade?

During the funeral parade for Commissioner Loeb (poisoned by joker) everyone is on guard because the joker has made a threat to kill the mayor.

Cops are scouting the windows, and Bruce goes to 1502 Randall to find the perps.

I understand that Bruce couldn't go as Batman cause Batman only comes out at night (so far) but he doesn't bother with any disguise at all. I mean, what if the joker's goons were in there? Was he going to just fight as Bruce? that could have really blown his cover

any ideas?

I'm more worried as to how a man with scars in his very face could make his way with like 5 henchmen right to the front of the parade next to the very major who was supposed to be guarded by the whole Gotham Police Department, and go unnoticed. Even after the shooting.

But yeah. I guess Bruce doesn't think the Joker's henchmen know his face or care for who he is. Plus, Bale's Bruce makes up just the best excuses.

He already fought the goon at his penthouse too as Bruce. I dont think he cares tbh, if a goon said "Bruce Wayne came in here and kicked our asses" the response would be "Sure he did".

There is a suspension of disbelief to be had, but I suppose we can say the police were so wound up about securing the place, rifle toting soldiers surrounding the area looking around and expecting something difficult and elaborate from The Joker, and the obvious went over their heads. In short, they didn't expect it. Just like the incident with the ferries. And yes, while the Joker was right there with the scars, the image of the white make-up, green hair and purple suit comes to mind a lot easier. You need suspension of disbelief for escaping after the shooting as well. That could probably be even harder to do than getting into position, as they saw the guy who took aim and shot. But for all intents and purposes, the film had a theme of people losing their minds in chaos - and that's how he slipped away unnoticed.

I like it when we see Bruce out of the Batman costume doing Batman type stuff. From the TDKR trailer, looks like we'll be getting more.

I totally forgot about the scene at the fundraiser where Bruce knocks out a few of the Jokers thugs and dismantles the gun so easily... that was pretty bad ass

I agree, it is cool seeing Bruce to Batman type of handiwork... it would have been cool to see him in more of a make shift ski-mask one costume (a la Year One) in BB, but the scenes of Bruce training with Ras were awesome. I now fully appreciate Bats as a hardcore Ninja.

ANd I just had thought. In the fundraiser scene, Bruce put Harvey Dent in a choke hold to knock him out quickly so he could safely hide him in a closet. I've always wondered what Harvey thought happened to him. Rachel could have just told him the truth, that Batman knocked him out!

what do you think Harvey thought happened when he woke up in a closet?

Penthouse security cameras probably spotted Joker and his men coming in his elevator.

Thats along the lines of what I thought as well, but I wouldnt say Wayne saw it on sec cams, I thought maybe he noticed the goons coming up

you know what, that is actually a nitpick I've had since watching it the first time. Though it's so minor that I've never cared to say anything about it. But I remember thinking when Bruce entered the apartment "Boy, he sure is lucky those police-hostages are blindfolded..." Then I thought it would be more calculating of him to keep the motorcycle-helmet on, at least until he got into the room. But with all the action going on, I just dropped the thought.

YUP!!! The film was heavy on Chaos and the things one does in the midst of it.. Be it Bruce/Batman, Gordon, Dent, and well.. the Joker had already lost his mind and hence WAS an agent OF chaos.

Because he knew the mob would come after Dent. Remeber, at this point in the game Bruce was doing heavy surveilance of just about everyone of importance. I'm sure he found it funny that the day he decides to have Dent over for drinks that goons would crash the party... He's a detective ya'll.

Which would be fine except for the fact that he figured it out just right after Gordon did and send his men and seconds before they came in. So either he was contacted by Gordon somehow or saw Joker's men coming up.

I don't see Gordon contacting Bruce about it. From what we see in the film it all happened too quickly. Bruce spotting Joker and his goons coming up the elevator is the best bet. Having these scenes together (Gordon finding out, Bruce knocking out Dent) are close together to build the tension in terms of film making IMO. Two men finding out on their own accord what's going to go down.

My point being was that I am sure he had high surveillance set up such as being linked to many of the traffic/security cameras in Gotham as we saw him keeping tabs on Dent in the bunker early in the film.

Especially in that high rise condo of his, he would need it. I'm sure he saw a gang of thugs led by a man in face paint and figured they were coming for Dent. I mean who else would they be gunning for other than Gothams DA??

This has made me wonder... if joker could infiltrate Bruce's penthouse so easily... how come Rachel told Harvey that Bruce's penthouse was "the safest place in the city, trust me"? And how could Dent actually believe her??? Wasn't he even there when all happened?

DENT: WTF? Joker almost killed you there! And somone knocked me out! Don't you remember? it was like 2 days ago.

She's saying that to indicate that since Batman was there the last time Joker showed up that there was a very good chance Joker wouldn't try that again and be the last place anyone would come causing trouble.

I remember reading somewhere that there was an extra few shots of Bruce seeing The Joker and his men coming up the elevator through the cameras?

It makes me really wish they had kept things like that in there, or Joker fleeing the penthouse.

And maybe I'm mistaken, but didn't the script have Bats use his grapple when catching Rachel?

Even now when I watch it I wonder why he doesn't, it's such a Batman thing to do.

Yeah, I get it. But no matter how much she trusts him, both of them witnessed how unsafe Bruce's penthouse was. Specially Dent who doesn't know Bruce is Batman.

But I checked again, and the sentence is "Believe me Harvey, Bruce's penthouse is now the safest place."

That "now" could imply that Bruce's has improved security.
