Default TASM Footage Description Thread!

I know it might seem pointless but I have created this thread so that everyone who have seen footage from TASM (SDCC 2011 or the upcoming Feb. 6th footage after it screens) can come and post their descriptions and thoughts. Also, we could use this as a place to put descriptions we find on other sites or know of already so that we always have them and so that we can compare and contrast or find it if we ever have to quote it.

I thought it be easier to do it this way so.

If you seen some footage the rest of us haven't, be sure to post your thoughts (positove or negative) and your description here.

EDIT: Apparently this isn't pointless

I know right? I felt this would we great for those who've seen footage becasue I know that they ALWAYS get asked what they saw and what it looked like even though they may have shared that info months ago.

This just makes life easier for everyone.

The descriptions are all in one place and we have a ton of perspectives to go off.

Well to start it off, here's Geeks of Doom's description of SDCC footage:

They begin with Peter Parker walking the halls of his high school when the bell rings and a ball hits him in the head. He’s then late for class, which his teacher calls him out for, making for a pretty terrible day. We then see Peter eying Gwen Stacy from across the room, clearly fond of her.
To make the bad stuff a little worse, he’s also being beaten up at school, to which we later see him responding with a beating of his own. He’s the one that gets in trouble, though, forcing the school to call his Uncle Ben (Martin Sheen) to come in. They tell him Peter attacked another student, and Ben asks him later if it was true. Peter tells him yes, but that he was just sticking up for himself.
Uncle Ben makes Peter feel bad by telling he had to switch shifts with someone at work in order to come to the school, so Peter is going to have to pick up his Aunt May (Sally Field). This could possibly be setting up what happens to Ben, and how Peter feels about it.
After Uncle Ben leaves, Gwen comes over to Peter and there’s a little awkward flirting before Peter gets up the courage to ask her out, to which she accepts as though she’s been waiting for him to ask for a long time now. Peter then skips away happily.
Back at home, Peter finds an old briefcase belonging to his father. He goes through it, finding some glasses that he puts on, an old Oscorp badge, and some various files. Aunt May comes in and says to him “Your father was a very secretive man.”
We then cut to Peter waking up, and now he’s very strong. He accidentally smashes his alarm clock, he squeezes way too much toothpaste out, then tries out his new–found strength by going on the subway, acting weak, and then hitting a thug.
Then some clips of him playing around with his abilities: testing out his web–slingers, beating people up, him trying out one of his costumes, and a funny altercation with a car thief. Some more about his father and how he believed it was your responsibility to help people if you were able to. There’s a shot of an accident on a bridge and then Spidey swinging in; we see a spider symbol. Then to the Stacy house where Gwen’s father, George (Denis Leary), saying he’s going to catch the spider guy.
Next up is a quick glimpse of the wrestling scene and then Aunt May asking where he’s getting all the bruises from. We see an arrest warrant being issued for the “vigilante known as Spider–Man,” and then Aunt May again, saying “Peter, secrets have a cost” to end this bit of footage.
The next footage focuses on something completely different: Dr. Curt Connors, or as you might better know him, The Lizard. Peter is on a field trip to Oscorp, where Connors works. The actor playing Connors, Rhys Ifans, is wearing a green arm sleeve which will later be removed as Connors is missing an arm.
Peter responds to something Connors says before Connors leaves in a hurry and goes to a lab. When there he takes some sort of strange serum, puts it in a machine, takes it out, and then injects himself with it before starting to writhe in pain and change.
We then see a couple of girls in a public bathroom complaining about boys, about to burn a picture. But when they flick the lighter on, a burst of air blows it out and the toilet begins to rattle and shake, then caves in through the floor. Then, bursting through the floor where the toilet was, appears The Lizard. The girls try and run, but Lizard corners them getting very close a la Alien, and then sticking out his tongue and grunting as the girls scream.
As for how the giant reptilian man looks, it seems to depend: some hate it, some think it’s all right, and some love it. Only you can judge! The one noticeable catch is that his long face/snout from the comics is not used, and that his face is more flat/man–like. Our crew in attendance at the panel felt that the CGI work, which is most likely still being worked on, is not up to par at this time and The Lizard is coming off so far looking like The Hulk.
Here’s the promised video and images. No matter what you think of this movie or how it looks, you can’t deny how awesome Garfield’s appreciation for being able to play the character is. His surprise appearance and speech is one of the highlights of this year’s Comic–Con.

Collider's SDCC Footage Description:

Quote:
First we see the teaser trailer (click here to watch) but we get to see it in 3D and while I still think the teaser looks a little too dour, the 3D really makes the POV sequence at the end work much better.

Afterwards, a guy dressed in a cheap Spidey costume crashes the mic while the moderator tries to explain questions will come later. The guy at the mic sounds a lot like Andrew Garfield. He removes his mask and it’s Andrew Garfield. Garfield then talks about how as a kid Spider-Man gave him hope and how Spider-Man used his great power for good. It’s painfully earnest with him talking about how Spider-Man inspired him in. He talks about Spidey like some folks talk about Jesus.
He then introduces producers Matt Tolmach, Avi Arad, director Marc Webb, and Emma Stone who plays Gwen Stacy. Webb, Stone, and Garfield are wearing “Stand Up 2 Cancer” stuff in honor of Spider-Man producer Laura Ziskin who founded the organization and recently passed away after her long battle with breast cancer.
Webb begins by talking about how so much in Spidey’s mythology hasn’t been explored and, for example, how excited he is to bring the Gwen Stacy material to the screen. Like Garfield, he expresses his deep love and enthusiasm for the character.
And now we get to see some footage. Webb says they just finished filming a few weeks ago so this is rough stuff but this crowd doesn’t care. There will be some green screens and wires, but Webb says it will give us a sense of what they’re attempting to accomplish in terms of story and tone.
We then see a really great sizzle reel (in 2D) that helps illuminate what they’re going for. At first it seems like it will be a little tiresome to see Flash Thompson repeatedly beating up Peter. But then Peter gets his superpowers and bullies Flash right back. Uncle Ben (Martin Sheen) chastises him and Webb clearly has a different idea about the power/responsibility maxim. This time, it seems like Spider-Man isn’t simply about using his power for as much good as possible, but not letting his power corrupt him.
Some of the film’s humor finally shines through as Spider-Man takes down a carjacker but it’s almost cruel. Spidey is sitting in the back seat of a car the guy is trying to steal. He quips that a carjacker really shouldn’t dress like a carjacker. The carjacker asks if Spider-Man is a cop and Spidey responds, “Seriously. Am I cop? How many cops do you know that wear red and blue tights?” The carjacker tries to run and Spider-Man pins the guy to a wall with his web but then taunts him and keeps slinging webs at the guy. The film clearly wants to explore what a nerdy guy like Peter Parker, who’s never had any power, does when he’s given superpowers.
We then see other moments of non-cruel humor as Peter (as Peter) struggles to control his super strength and, without really trying, takes down a gang of thugs on a subway car.
There’s also some warmth from the characters and that’s clearly going to come alive between Stone and Garfield. After Uncle Ben chastises Peter and then busts his balls in front of Gwen by saying Peter has a picture of her on his computer and identifying himself as Peter’s parole officer. Embarrassed, Peter explains that it’s just his uncle joking around. Gwen and Peter then awkwardly (intentionally) talk to each other and try to come off like teenagers as much as possible before setting up tentative plans for a date. And then Coldplay starts playing and I start cringing.
We move to a new scene where we see Peter uncover his father’s old briefcase, take out the papers inside (as you saw in the trailer, his dad worked for Oscorp) and start to uncover his father’s secrets (secrecy also seems to be a theme in the film but neither the footage nor the trailer has really explained how beyond Peter having to hide his secret identity).
Thankfully, the music then changes over to “Street Fighting Man” and we see more of the action. We also see that Gwen’s father, Sgt. George Stacy (Denis Leary) is why there’s no J. Jonah Jameson in the film. The two characters share the same drive is to take down Spider-Man but while Jameson tried to do it through the Daily Bugle, George Stacy is trying to do it with his police force and that is certainly a greater threat. It could be a really cool conflict provided the story doesn’t get overstuff between Spidey’s origin story, fighting off the Lizard, and then the NYPD.
During the Q&A they talk about the villain, Dr. Curt Connors, aka The Lizard (Rhys Ifans). And then Webb says they have a little bit of footage and it’s in 3D. In the clip, we see PEter and his Midtown Science High School classmates listening to Connors in Connors’ lab (where Gwen apparently works). Connors says he intends to re-grow his arm using cross-species genetics. Then we see scenes that take place afterwards: Connors steals from his lab and descend into a secret lab in the sewers. We see him inject himself with some weird green formula. His re-grown left arm start to mutate, grows scales, he’s in agony, thrashing around in the sewer water, and suddenly we cut to two girls in a bathroom stall talking about boys.
And then the toilet begins to shake. And then the ground beneath the toilet breaks apart and swallows the toilet into the new chasm. It’s a fun play on the old myth of alligators coming out of the toilet, but this time it’s not a gator. It’s a giant man-lizard. We see The Lizard with completed CG and the design is cool but familiar. It’s not the elongated Lizard face of the classic comics but more of a gigantic humanoid covered in scales and it reminded me of Killer Croc from the Batman universe. The Lizard then goes up to the terrified teenage girls, breathes on them, and extends his tongue towards one of the girls. Like Peter, it’s the display of power through cruel taunting. Then we cut to the new logo and then cut back towards the Lizard leaping towards the screen and chomping at the audience.

Not much I can add to the descriptions already on here except for my favorite part of the whole SDCC reel:

Spidey to Car Thief- Seriously, if you're gonna steal cars, don't dress like a car thief man.

The quippage was perfect in the trailer and the Collider description calling it "cruel" is way off to me and seems like the writer doesn't really get that aspect of Spider-Man. Also the scene with Peter and Gwen in the hallway at school was really fantastic and seemed so completely real to me.

I was asked in another thread about the web shooters, so I'll add that we see Peter testing them while not wearing them, so it's pretty clear that the webs will be completely synthetic and not organic at all. We also see a close up of the web shooter and it has what appears to be a digital read out on it, perhaps a gauge of how much web fluid is left.

@awesome232: Well he said a close up of the webshooter, which appears to have a digital readout... so I'm guessing it'll be on the webshooter face.

Which is freaking awesome!
