They were talking about putting Auburn into the East, with the Tigers and A&M going in the west. Auburn had apparently agreed to that as well. I'm not sure if anythings changed since though.

That makes more sense geographically speaking, but I just think it'd be easier to put Missouri in the west.

Auburn refused to come to east, as they'd lose their annual clash with Alabama.

They have already said Missouri will be in the East. The dividing line starts with a 45° angle from the Northwest corner to the Southeast corner.

The BigEast will eventually dissolve. The merger of the WAC & Conf USA will become a major conference for Mid-Majors.

Well, east and west teams play so many games a year against each other. I could see them just limiting the number of games Auburn plays against west teams to make sure they play Alabama each year.

But yeah, it's just easier to leave them in the west.

They may have refused but there is no reason they would lose their game with Bama. Bama plays UT every year as a rivalry game and they are in the east. Its pretty easy to do.

I think that was partly the reason it didn't work..Bama wasn't willing to ditch their meeting with Tennessee. You're right, it likely could work..but I guess some of em don't want it to. lol

It's not just they could still play every year...it's the fact that they both want to compete in the same division for division supremacy and annual rivary with other schools. Particular Arkansas and LSU obviously.

I'm fine with it. I'd much rather play Mizzou every year than Auburn. Mizzou is more beatable for us.

It'll be interesting to see how eastern schedules work out in '12

I assume everyone will play 12 games now. 6 division games, 3 against the opposing division, and 3 out of conference games.

Georgia's 2012 non-east lineup includes Auburn, Alabama, Ole Miss, Tech, FL Atlantic, Buffalo and Georgia Southern. I think we may cash out Southern or Atlantic, and put Missouri in that spot.

Exactly what I thought...Alabama didn't fall much(#3). LSU and Bama win out, with everyone else losing one(which certainly can happen); the BCS Championship will feature "The Rematch".

They will NEVER let two SEC teams play for the NC imo. Even if they should some years, they never will.

Agreed. It would be about like having the Yankees and Red Sox play the world series.

Houston Nutt will be shown the door at the end of the season

http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/footbal...ssissippi-nutt

Quote:
OXFORD, Miss. (AP)—After more than a year without a Southeastern Conference victory, Mississippi coach Houston Nutt will resign.

The fourth-year Rebels’ coach will lead the team for the remainder of the season, athletic director Pete Boone said at a press conference Monday. Boone also announced that he will step down as athletic director by the end of 2012.

The Rebels have lost 12 consecutive Southeastern Conference games, including Saturday’s 30-13 loss to Kentucky. Mississippi is 2-7 this year, including 0-6 in the SEC. Nutt is 24-23 in his four years in Oxford.

Yeah, I always liked Paterno. But if he knew what was going on as early as '02, then he's got to go.
