How should the movie start?

As the title says, how do you think the movie should start? I thought it'd be pretty neat if it started midway through the final battle showing the Avengers being overwhelmed then would flash back to how they got to that point. I know that way has been done a million times before but I always like it .

I think it should start with Cap punching somebody, zoom out to see a large scale battle taking place; other avengers in background (minus hulk) doin damage then suddenly there is a large flash and they are knocked down with the high pitch sound used in movies to signify shock/flash grenade...then flashback

I think it will start with a breif synopsis of some kind, and then we will get a montage of scenes of the recruitment process of each Avenger.

I'd be okay with a narration but I think it should be a man's voice, but not one we've seen before in the movies; then people could say that it's Uatu.

Well, if it's supposed to be through Cap's eyes, I say have it start with him lying on the bed, reading through some almanac and realizing all that he has missed and how much he has to catch up on.

I get the feeling it will start with something around Tony Stark and/or Captain America, perhaps not in action just introductory dialogue or something

It should start with a bunch of neanderthals gathering around a strange black monolith, going crazy and chucking bones into the air.

One of the first scenes will probably be the after credits scene of Captain America with him boxing and Fury telling him he's got a mission.

I dunno the exact makeup of the opening, of course, but some things that Whedon will probably need to do at the start:

*introduce the heroes and their backstories. Whedon and Feige have repeatedly stated that you do *not* have to watch the previous 5 movies to understand the Avengers, so that indicates that they're going to have to rehash them in the opening minutes. Annoying to those of us who already know the backstory, yeah, but it'll be necessary.

*open with a bang. Which means not opening with a bunch of exposition and "boring stuff." That may sound like it runs counter to my previous point: i.e., how do you show backstory without exposition, without turning it into a boring monologue of a character delivering their resume to the audience?

I *do* think the opening 15 minutes or so will just show Avengers, though, not Loki. The movie is about them, not him. I honestly don't expect to see Loki show up as a threat until about the 15 minute mark, after we've already spent some quality time with at least one or two of the Avengers. I'd say Cap would be the most likely Avenger we'll see first, then Tony, then Widow, then Banner, then Hawkeye....Thor will come much later, after Loki's already hit the scene.

This sounds about right, although they might show Thor in Asgard a bit before he comes to earth.

I really want it to start with Thor. He's the only one in the group that has no direct path back to the Avengers by the end of his film, so I want that one answered right off the bat.

We see that scene with Cap punching the punch bag across the room, then we get Fury de-briefing him... he slides off his panties and...puts on his new costume.
then Fury takes him round to Stark's house to introduce him. Stark opens the door, is wasted, still drinking from the night before, and has a couple of naked women in his bed.
Cap is disgusted, knocks the women out with his shield, puts clothes on them, and puts them over his shoulders, looking to put them in a mental hospital for shock therapy.
Fury tells him things don't work this way these days, to put the women down.
Stark offers Cap a drink, but Cap tells him he can't get drunk.
Stark turns to Fury.."At least tell me this guy has a penis."
Fury confirms Cap has a penis, but it has been frozen since WWII.
Stark nods..."Makes sense. That once happened to me when I was tanked."
