Hulk exceeds Thor's Strength as he gets angrier, and his strength continues to grow without limit. (This doesn't mean he whipes the floor with Thor, unless they have been battling for a long time giving him a chance to build up enough rage, I see it as a gradual process of him over taking Thor's strength).


Thor has almost unlimited power potential and combines it with his normal Hulk strength. (Thor's powers are mighty, but he does not use them generally to their fullest, perhaps fearful of the destruction it will cause)


So, in the end Strength goes to Hulk and overall Power goes to Thor.

To me they seem evenly matched in strength on normal levels, while evenly matched in different ways in their stronger and more powerful forms.


At least that is how I see it and how I think it should be portrayed in the movie to avoid fan conflict.

Yeah more or less. The only thing actually, is Thor is slightly stronger than Hulk at normal level. Meaning Thor's base strength is stronger. But since Thor's strength is fixed, and Hulk's increases exponentially, strength will go to Hulk. Although Thor's hammer does even it up more, of course if the fight stays a slugfest, which it will

Well I have been giving this battle some more thought, and things that also need to be considered is will Hulk be able to reach strengths beyond his base strength in the movie. The reason is that Hulk's increased strength requires anger and rage, both of which generally relate to someone that is out of control, and it has already been suggested that this Hulk was going to be a more in control version of Hulk. On the other hand with Thor. In the Movies Thor is not literally a god, but the best warrior from an advanced extra dimensional alien race with super powers that people have considered gods. So, I guess for the movie purposes they both have things that could be considered deflating to their top tier power levels, and it evens it out again in the end.

still it will be killer to see them fight and will the end of that fight be able to translate to Hulk joining the team. Or could the fight be broken up by Lokis forces attacking and that causes the Hulk to join the team?

I wonder what age 'mentality' the Hulk has in Avengers, myself.
In the comics, I've always seen Hulk basically 'evolve' from his 'birth'.
The classic green Hulk was at a 2 or 3 year old mentality. He had some basic words and usage down, and had like maybe 2 people he felt comfortable around or an attachment to (Rick and Betty).
The Hulk I saw in TIH, I equated to this (or maybe that of a 4 or 5 year old).
Maybe the Hulk in Avengers will have matured to 9 or 10 year old mentality.
Quite a jump for just a two year span (supposedly) but who knows how Hulks mind evolves/works.
I would love for the Hulk to be as eloquent as he is in EMH.

Personally, I would like to see Hulk under Loki's mind control, and for Thor and Hulk to be going at it toe to toe, they are trading punches back and forth and like someone else said you can feel the shockwaves of the impacts. Then to have Thor give Hulk a somewhat charged impact with Mjolnir that sends Hulk flying into a building that collapses on top of him. Then have Thor turn and start walking away (part of his arrogance as if he has won) and say something like "He was a fierce warrior, but he was no match for the power of Thor". He gets ready to turn his attention towards Loki, when Thor hear's rubble move from behind him in the distance and then you see an enraged Hulk explode out from the remaining rubble, and begin charging at Thor. Thor quickly turns around to see the extremely angry Hulk coming at him, and Hulk connects with an impact that is even harder and more destructive then the one Thor had landed on him earlier (Perhaps he goes into the building and out the other side). Then Loki makes a comment like "Only my brother can make someone that angry". "Hulk then say's something like "Hulk is the strongest there is", but then you see Thor fly through the holes he had made in the building with his impact and hits Hulk (who braces for the impact) with a combined speed of flight, the power of Mjolnir and his strength. Before this impact would have sent Hulk flying, but now with Hulk bracing for the Impact and his enraged state it bearly knocks Hulk back. Thor surprised gets caught of guard by Hulk who grabs him and pounds him to the ground with a tremendous force. Hulk gets ready to crush Thor by raising his two arms, and says "Hulk smash puny Thor", but before the blow can be delivered a bolt of lightning comes out of the sky striking Hulk and catching him off guard and you can see the smoke coming off of his skin. This gives Thor a chance to get back to his feet and you see the sky turn dark. Hulk then roars and the battle is about to continue, when Iron Man shoots a blast at Loki breaking the mind control over Hulk, and Black Widow works on calming Hulk and getting through to Bruce (similar to the way Betty would), while Thor speaks with Captain America (a man he has come to respect from a previous battle).

So, I would like to see it happen something like that.

Although his pants should be purple, not his shirt. Ignoring the fact that it is extremely difficult to find purple men's pants in any context: you'd look like a freak wearing them, whether your skin is green or not.
