Yeah I've been thinking the same

Thing is, I used to watch them so much that I can actually sort of play the episodes in my head if I want to. Their just committed to memory already!

I've gotten to that point with Angel. I've watched the entire series from beginning to end like 4 times at this point. But I've only watched Buffy twice--once when it was airing and again when I got the complete series DVD set.

TNT plays 2 consecutive episodes of Angel every weekday morning from 6-8. They've gone through the entire series about 3 times already. They need to throw some Buffy into the mix.

FX used to re-run Buffy all the time, but now according to IMDB it looks like the LOGO channel is the only one that does. I can't help but feel like SyFy or, like you suggested, TNT would be better fits for it.

This was by far her best role, imo.

So I started Angel. At first I wasn't really into it that much but once The Scourge episode came along I was into it. I'm on the episode where Cordi gets knocked up by the demon. Freaky!

Man, I envy you for getting to go through it for the first time again. It gets so much better. And then a little worse. But then totally better again.

Buffy went a long way toward building Dushku's stardom, in fact.

Yeah, the earliest thing I can remember her doing was playing Arnold's daughter in True Lies.

Yeah, I felt the same way with Angel (and Buffy, tbh). With Buffy, I didn't start getting into it until halfway through S2, but with Angel, it happened a little earlier with the S1 finale. The "introduction" of a certain character at the end made that series SO much more compelling. From there on, the arc just builds and builds pretty much for 3 seasons straight. That show got super intense.

Does Angel season 1 not have a big bad? I'm on episode 15 but I'm not sure what the arc of this season is.

Not really, S1 basically establishes Wolfram & Hart as the Big Bad of the series. The mission statement of the show doesn't really come out 'til the 1st season finale. Before that, it's more like a bunch of character pieces strung together by continuity while laying the groundwork for things to come.

It's mostly set up for season 2 and pretty much the rest of the series.

I'll say this about Angel, its filler episodes are by and large more enjoyable than Buffy's filler episodes. Most Buffy seasons I'd get bored a few times throughout the season, but it really hasn't happened with Angel so far.

Agreed. But don't get attached to those filler episodes! As it went on, Angel became much more arc-driven than Buffy. By the time season 4 hit, there was barely a filler episode to be found.

I'm very happy to hear that because I always felt the Buffy's seasons could have been tightened up.

Yeah, I hear ya there. In my great re-watch I'm doing now, I keep finding an episode here and there that I just recall being totally skippable.

I don't know what you all are talking about. The Buffyverse did filler episodes like no other show. Even if they play really no part in the main scheme of things, more often than not, they're still must see, as far as I'm concerned.

There was really only one filler episode that just completely put me off to the point that I haven't watched it again since the first time. And that's the one in S5 with the creepy little thing that came out of that meteor. Unwatchable, IMO.

A lot of the filler episodes of Buffy that I'm talking about are in the 1st 2 seasons: Teacher's Pet, I Robot, You Jane, Inca Mummy Girl, Reptile Boy, Bad Eggs, etc.

I mean, I don't regret watching any of them as they all had their entertaining moments, but I have zero urge to watch them again. But yeah, that S5 episode you mentioned was pretty bad.

What the hell ever happened to that Praying Mantis monster egg in the first season? We saw a shot of it hidden in a closet at the end of the episode and never heard from it again.

I was wondering about that too.

In the episode where Buffy comes to LA to get Faith did anyone else get aggravated with Buffy? I'll be the first to say Faith annoys me. Her whole I'm a rebel shtick got old quick but then she was trying to do good and I finally felt sympathy for her and Buffy comes in ready to beat her to death. Just really irked me, and then she threw Riley in Angels face.

Buffy was really unlikeable in her second Angel appearance. I had a massive smile on my face when he told her off. But then he pussied out and went to Sunnydale to apologize.

Can't be too upset about that though. If he didn't we would of never got to see him kick the **** out of Riley.

I love Faith and Buffy's attitude was beyond justified. Why the heck should she buy Faith's redemption after what Faith just did to her in Sunnydale? Heck just the episode before she was trying to kill Angel. Faith was a psychopath and I can definetly see why Buffy didnt trust her and would want to beat her up

Yes, I know I was. I mean, on an intellectual level, I find her completely justified. She tried to save Faith's soul as Angel was doing waaaay more times than Faith deserved, and Faith did nothing but hurt her. Faith had just pushed past Buffy's breaking point. Then she comes to LA to help Angel and she finds Faith in Angel's arms. It must have hurt her not just knowing what Faith had just done with Riley, but also knowing how long SHE had tried to get through to Faith with no success. Now suddenly one day with Angel and all is well? Nah, I probably wouldn't buy it either.

Still, the way she behaved over it annoyed me and felt a bit out-of-character for her to me. And I actually blame that on the fact that this episode was mainly written by Tim Minear, who was never a Buffy writer and had therefore never written Buffy as a character before. Granted, Joss co-wrote the episode, probably because of his experience with the character of Faith and her past relationships with the characters, but Minear had top billing as writer. That, plus this is Angel's show, so we saw things from his POV rather than Buffy's, and he naturally had to come out of it looking in the right.

Default Re: Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel the Vampire - Part 2

I liked Buffys attitude towards Faith in that episode, girl finally found her breaking point and was ready to stoop to Faiths level. That would have been an entertaining fight that proabably couldve matched their Graduation fight (which is still one of the best fight scenes imo). Sucks though that this was her last appearance on Angel and she didnt even get to interact with Cordy or Wes really. What I wouldnt have given for one more season of Buffy/Angel so we could have finally gotten a 2 hr "movie" event of the two gangs coming together to fight a big bad.
