Bradley Cooper was excellent in Silver Linings Playbook. That being said if he is nominated for an Oscar he has zero chance of winning and that's why it is foolish to take these awards as precursors to the Oscars sometimes. Sometimes they match up with the Oscars and sometimes they don't.

The only critics group that actually does matter something about the Oscar is the BFCA (Broadcast Film Critics Awards). Their nominations will be reveled on December 11th (next Tuesday).

Oh I agree he is very excellent in that movie but Daniel Day Lewis is just on a whole nother level

I don't disagree with that.

As for the best actress situation I hope that anyone but Lawrence wins. She's brillaint in Playbook and I'm a huge fan but I just have a feeling that it would hurt her career in the long run by causing her to be overexposed so early in her career. She has plenty of time to win one so I'm rooting for the excellent Jessica Chastain or whoever else is nominated. Besides, Lawrence shouldn't be up for lead anyhow, she gives a supporting performance.

Joaquin Phoenix and Daniel Day-Lewis were BOTH on a whole nother level over Cooper, imo. But oh well, that's just one of many lists of winners we'll be getting over the next few months, and every single one of those list is bound to have choices that make many of us go, "WTF."

Not interested in Lincon but I'm sure he was better than Cooper and I agree that I thought that Pheonix was better than Cooper. That being said I really liked Cooper in Playbook and think that if he wasn't Bradley Cooper he would be getting more praise

is'nt jessica in the same boat of overexposure

she may not be young like jen but she didn't break out till last year in which she was in tree of life,the help,take shelter,The Debt,Coriolanus ,etc.

Very few have seen most of Chastains films and the press isn't talking about her as much as Lawrence because Lawrence is the star of one of the biggest hits of the year and has a supporting role in the X-Men franchise. Plus she, as you just said, has the youth advantage. I don't agree with the media's bias when it comes to the age thing but it's the truth.

So that is why I think that Lawrence is in far more danger of being overexposed.

Oh yeah, I definitely liked him in the movie too. I was just ultimately far more impressed with the other two performances.

And I agree with you that Lawrence is in much more danger of over-exposure than Chastain, mostly because of the Hunger Games franchise.

Jen will be fine. The only issue I see is her age may come into equation, Chastain is not exactly a household name but is older and the voters may feel more comfortable giving it to her, although Jessica hasn't exactly got a massive catalog of work either despite being older, in fact looking at IMDB they virtually have a similar amount of acting roles to their names.

I agree about the age thing and the fact that she is giving a comedic performance will hurt her chances. The Oscars kind of hate comedies.

I think since Streep is out of the picture that the award is going to a young hot actress this time and Chastain fits that bill perfectly. She's a fantastic actress who is young and beautiful and her movie is a gritty realistic drama. I see Marion C scoring another nod but I don't think she has a shot in hell of winning. I'm betting on Chastain winning and not because of her winning critic awards because they have no baring on the Oscars.

Eh I didn't like him in A-Team, then again I hate A-Team with a white hot passion so. maybe it carried over to the...nah I liked the D9 guy in it so I just didn't like his performance in that awful film.

I'm quite excited for ZD30 with all the reviews its been getting, compared to Zodiac and such. The trailers were pretty bland but seeing it as soon as I can.

I didn't like him in A-Team either. He just doesn't make a good "charming rogue," imo. I used to love him back in the Alias days when he was the lovesick best friend, and as I said, I enjoyed him in SLP when he was playing a legitimately damaged guy who people couldn't even deal with. He should just avoid these macho ladies' man roles he's become known for because I really don't think he has the type of charm needed to pull those off.

I like how all over the place the acting awards are with the critics groups. It's not like in the previous years where outside of a few outliers (like the LAFCA and NYFCA), the winners are consistently the same.

ZDT and Bigelow are definitely the frontrunners for BP and BD at this point.
