Wallis just won the Critics Choice Awards for Best Young Actor/Actress. She's so darn adorable.

I don't feel like looking over all the noms, but was TDKR nominated for anything? Because if anything, I would'nt mind seeing Lindy Hemming get a nomination for costumes.

Nope. Zero noms. Not even for the sound categories or vfx.

The guy blew up an entire building in TDK for example whereas others would just use computers. Computers add a little bit more, but in the end it's all Nolan. As per the Bat having weight - I'd say that comes a lot from all of the rigs and suspension from cables and wires that were around it on the set and then just digitally aided to get it by itself by the computer.

The award is called best visual effects, not best CGI. Let us not forget that Nolan's Inception, which was mostly practical wizardry, won the award over the likes of Tron Legacy and Iron Man 2.

Guess I forgot about Inception then. I just always, for some reason unsure, viewed it as more of a computer and technology award.

Considering Bane's voice wasn't met with universal acclaim, I'm surprised people thought that a sound nomination was a slam dunk for TDKR. The fact that people were debating the sound of a movie at all, usually isn't a good sign.

I don't think sound editing or sound mixing were int he cards for TDKR either. I think just visual effects.

Not gonna lie I'm pretty bummed that SLJ didn't get a nomination I actually kinda expected a win as well, glad to see "Silver Linings Playbook" and "Beast of the Southern Wild" get as many noms as they did, would also be cool to see either Lawrence or Wallis win as both gave great performances. I think it would be funny to see Wallis win just to have this little girl beat all these grown women with what was her first role.

Yeah, overall I was pretty satisfied. They have some very nice surprises and unlike the past few years, haven't been totally predictable.

But then Affleck gets snubbed... just reminds me how subjective these are anyway and in the end, don't mean much, as enjoyable as they can be. I'll at least know that Affleck was one of the most impressive directors of the year.

I'm rooting for Phoenix for Best Actor. And I'm extremely pleased about Denzel's nomination for Flight. That's a category where I won't mind who wins. Though as much as I loved Lewis as Lincoln, he has his two Oscars, give it to one of the other four. I mean Bradley Cooper and Jackman are nominated for Oscars. Never thought I'd see that happen. But it's very cool.

3 Nominations before the age of 40 for Amy Adams. Pretty impressive.

There are some great movies in that list. But, there are so many snubs. And there are so many that shouldn't be there (Really? Mirror Mirror deserves to be there? And Wooden Acting and the Thor? Those movies are awful).

That one was just a renaming based on one of the movie's worst qualities. The effects were far from impressing and if they nominated that, I wouldn't be surprised to see Battleship be their 6th choice.

His cinematography? Isn't that what the cinematographer is for?
Getting harder to attribute credit these days.
Avengers looked big and small when it needed to.
At the very least it looked better than the marvel(studios) films that preceded it. Cap in the gym vs his own entire movie for instance, nice sense of energy.

And I thought Transformers had it bad to constantly loose out in those categories to inferior competition. But this takes the cake.

And why no love for Cloud Atlas?

There were some beautiful bits in that movie, in my opinion (Cap in the gym, Coulson's cards and Fury's speech about heroes, for example). But, for most of the movie, I felt the cinematography was pretty bland.

Pretty predictable list overall. The only surprise I've seen is Amour getting a Best Picture nom since it's a foreign art-house film.

Looper and The Master got shut out big time for Original Screenplay and Cinematography, respectively. I'm also disappointed that Dark Knight Rises didn't get anything.

I know those posters are a joke thing but in regards to the ‘Anne Hathaway on screen for less than twenty minutes’ thing - as Gandalf said, all we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. Anne decided to leave a lasting impression which peaked the movie early. Quality over quantity.
