I think diseases in Skyrim doesn't affect your health/stamina, but your skills and magicka.

If you look at your active effects, you'll see that some disease reduced your melee skills for 25% for example.

If you miss the first warning, when you first got the disease, NPC's will tell you.

'you don't look so well..'

'are you alright? you look sick!'

Etc

I got a stamina affecting disease from an ice wolf last night. What stat the disease affects just depends on the type of disease, just like previous Elder Scrolls games. The only thing is, unlike previous games there really isn't enough indication of being affected.

The only indication I had that it hadn't worn off was when I was checking my stat page about 5 dungeons later and my stamina was displayed in red at 20% less than it should be. There should be some symbol or something on your HUD notifying you.

This isn't a HUD indication, but everything is listed in Active Effects in the magic menu.

You can check on your diseases if you go to Magic, scroll down to the bottom, and there is a tab called "Active Effects." That tab shows all magical abilities affecting you, including diseases, and tells you what each one does.

It does. Text pops up that says "You've contracted [disease]". Plus NPCs will tell you, and it's listed as an active effect as well. Even if you somehow miss it after all that, it doesn't really matter because the diseases are so mild that that they're nearly unnoticeable.

The main reason I rock a Werewolf is so I don't contract Rock Joint every 5 minutes.

Do I have to become a Werewolf, to get any additional quest from the Companions? I was trying to avoid that.

You have to become a werewolf but you have the option of curing your lycanthropy later on.

I'm currently doing the quest, with the guy that supposedly burned down his house, with his wife and kid inside. I was supposed to talk to the Jarl, but it looks like she went to sleep. So I thought I'd do a little investigation before talking to her in the morning. I sneaked into Alva's house. I didn't like what I found. o_o

Skyrim DLC To Be Revealed Tomorrow? Bethesda Tease With Cryptic Image

Could tomorrow see the announcement of the first batch of DLC for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim? With Kinect compatibility coming to Skyrim at the end of the month, it seems high time that Bethesda reveal some proper DLC for the high fantasy epic, as it's been far too long since we slaughtered our last dragon.
At the moment, the only clues are an image of a dishevelled man shrouded in darkness and the word "Tomorrow" on Bethesda's yfrog account. It seems like the screenshot could be pointing to the first of Skyrim's add-ons, although there's an outside chance it could be something else.
All will be revealed "tomorrow", whatever it turns out to be. Here's the mysterious image for you to have a look at. It's Skyrim DLC, right?

Excellent timing.

With The Witcher II coming out soon, I decided a few days ago that I should finally finish Skyrim, which I just did. (Not that my opinion has changed on it, but it's such an excellent game. Especially getting to see things come to life that I loved reading about in Morrowind and Bloodmoon.)

Anyway, I can't wait to find out what the DLC entails.

Same here. There are tons of quests I'm putting on hold and places I pass by, because I try to follow the main story. If I visit every place and do every quest, I feel like I'll never get finished. Plus with all the player added content, there's even more to do.

I wish Bethesda would have told me it would be ideal to just run through the main story before doing anything else, because by the end of it, it's obvious that's what they had in mind.

Haha see I'm the opposite: every time I fire up Skyrim I'm like OKAY I'M GONNA DO THE MAIN QUEST NOW!!! and then I end up exploring for like 3 hours doing random sidequests lol.

Soapy, can you explain what you mean without spoilers? If not, don't worry about it, I'm just curious.

It's not really a spoiler, it's just after you finish the main quest a character gives you a speech which basically boils down to, "Okay, you've dealt with this world-ending crisis, now you can go exploring and do the side stuff."

lawl. I really should get back to the main quest. There's just so many sidequests it's mind blowing. Every time I finish one a new one pops up somewhere, or I catch that elusive blacked-out-location icon at the top of the screen and I think "Hmmm...okay I'll check out what that place is, THEN I'll do the main quest..."

That's why I sided with the Champions. Now I have to become a Werewolf, or there aren't going to be any more quests for me from them.
