I thought that with the shots of Iron Man battering Thor, but I imagine they are his only two hits. Thor will batter Iron Man and Cap...he better do anyway.

I actually liked that part as it shows a part of Thor's powers that we have seen little of at this point....his invulnerability.

Exactly. If Tony punches a normal person like that, they're dead. If he kicks a normal person like that, again, they're dead.

Also don't forget he lights up the Empire State Building. Seems like it would take a lot of power to do that.

Indeed. A normal person wouldn't get kicked through a tree, he would slammed against it with several broken bones. With Thor you can fell a tree.

Agreed, I'm a big supporter of Thor's invulnerability being shown more but it does look like Thor's affected by those blows more than he should be.

Isn't there a shot in one of the first trailers with Thor throwing his hammer in the forest? I really hope that is aimed at Cap or Iron Man as they won't be getting up from that any time soon.

What's he supposed to do, stand there completely unmoving like a mountain? Thunder God or no, he's still the size of a large human and thus somewhat subject to the laws of physics. If something with the strength of the IM suit hits you it's going to throw you around a bit even if you aren't injured.

I believe the Avengers trailer is only the 4th movie trailer to ever hit 100K likes on YouTube. The others were the first New Moon teaser, the first Deathly Hallows teaser, and the Transformers 3 trailer (which is just barely over 100K)

I never said he was suppose to stand there like a mountain, but he seemed a bit dizzy before IM flew at him and kicked him through that tree.

Personally I think he was a bit surprised by the fact that someone would DARE to attack him and be able to actually hold their own against him for a time. He was caught off guard. lol My opinion.

I'm probably in the minority but i'm a big proponent of showing the heroes vulnerability. Sure i love watching them kick ass but i also want them to be put through the wringer.I want it to get to the point where i'm worried they're not gonna make it outta this. It just resonates more and is more fulfilling when they do overcome the obstacles. This is what made Spiderman 2 great imo.

And in order to do that, you almost have to depower these guys some. If we go strictly by the book, Thor and Hulk would be untouchable, and that just can't happen if u want an engaging movie. They've got to get their asses handed to them at some point.

I do believe that's exactly what we'll be getting.

Everything else is true too, so I have to agree. Was thinking Thor will realize at some point, this is not the same mortal world he once knew. Things have changed, his arrogance will not serve him like it did in the past, hence why he was caught off guard. Hope that makes sense.

ALOT of people say this, but heroes ALWAYS get their asses handed to them in cmb films and when I think of "superheroes" I don't think of someone that gets their asses kicked all the time.

I saw the Hunger Games this morning (good movie but didn't surpass MI4 or Chronicle as far as movies I've seen this year. ) and I got to see the 2nd trailer on the big screen and wow, it impressed me even more.

And I'll probably see the Avengers at the same time I saw THG. Theater was maybe half full since it was so early, it was great.

Not really..just think of Thor for example.. the worst thing that happened to him was he got pimp slapped by the Destroyer. He then gained his powers back and promptly wiped the floor with the Destroyer who offered zero resistance. He took a few hits when he battled Loki but thats about it.

I'm not saying they should be portrayed as weak, but at the same time, u can't get audiences to care much about a character when he's invulnerable. Audiences want to be able to relate to characters when they watch flicks and its hard to do so when a guy is overly powerful and doesnt have an equal. A lot of critics mentioned that in their reviews of Spidey 2. Pushing the heroes to their limits almost always ensures more emotional investment from people.
