Actually I think American Dad is much funnier than Family Guy. Not only doesn't use pop culture and topical humor as a crutch, it's humor is just more..raw and transgressive as all hell.

I prefer American Dad to Family Guy as well. The humor on American Dad always catches me off guard and gets a good honest laugh out of me. Family Guy (while I still enjoy it very much) has gotten somewhat predictable in it's humor. It's kind of the same set of jokes repeated over and over.

Macfarlane said in an interview that the reason everyone accepts Ted is because back when he came to life he went on tv, got talked to by scientists, and basically became a word phenomenon. But decades later, everyone on Earth is used to it, and kind of just accepts him as being there, and aren't that entranced.

Why does it even need explaining? It's a comedy, they should just run with it...

I just watched the trailer. I laughed at the Thunder Song. The rest seemed like typical MacFarlane schtick; I don't know if I like that enough to watch a whole movie of it.

Eh. It doesn't look all that funny to me. I might give it a look when they start showing it on Netflix.

Yeah, but you see how many people come with "why do they accept a talking teddy bear? It makes no sense." Kind of pokes fun at how desensitized to fantastical things people get.

Everyones says how it's exactly his Peter voice, but I actually hear a mix of Brian and Peter in Ted.
Ted grabbing boob is my favorite part of the trailer. Oh and his answer to "Do you think she's expecting something big?".

I don't feel like watching the trailer right now but I'm not surprised at your reaction because the idea sounded awful to me.

Rattling off all the white trash names is definitely a Family Guy moment I could see them doing on the show.

Had no idea this movie was even out there. Saw the trailer and laughed pretty hard. Awesomeness.

Yeah... the Family Guy style humor doesn't lend itself to live-action. I chuckled at some parts (mainly Ted flashing those moves at the supermarket chick), but I was just shaking my head at the inane humor. And Mila should've kept her regular Meg Griffin accent... that would've been funnier.
If the whole movie is like this... God help us all. |

Not a huge fan of Family Guy anymore, but I really like American Dad. I laughed/chuckled a couple of times during the trailer and looks promising, plus it has Marky Mark. I'll check this out.

This kind of reminds me of, of all things, Unhappily Ever After; except this time the stuffed animal is real to everyone and not just the guy.

It's funny how divided people are about the trailer. This is very much a love-it or hate-it type deal.
