Not having that D they used to have makes a big dent. Or a good deep threat. But with Brady and still some other tools, they're always there with a chance. Chad86 just didn't make a ripple in this system, somehow.

NFC is stronger, thats a fact. AFC has the Pats, Ravens, Texans, and the Steelers. While the NFC has the Packers, Saints, Bears(Who were a great team until they were struck with Caleb Haine), Falcons, the Panthers that went to the wire with just about every team they faced, the 49ers, Giants, AND the Lions. It wouldnt surprise me if any of the teams I just listed won the Super Bowl, I would be surprised if a winner came out of the AFC that isnt Brady/Manning/Rapistberger though.

AFC kinda' took the lead for a while there with teams like the Pats and Steelers. But tide seems to have swayed back to the NFC more recently.

Yeah the NFC has dominated the SB recently.

The tide is definitely turning. While there is no doubt that the AFC was the superior conference in the 2000s, it seems like the 2010s are shaping up to be a decade defined by NFC dominance. The AFC teams of the 2000s are aging an all of the elite younger players seem to be in the NFC.

Curtis Lofton signs with the Saints.
Oh well, atleast I get to see Tony Gonzalez burn him over the middle when the Falcons play em.

Also a culture change as well. It seems like that old saying of "Defense wins championships" is being challenged lately.

Offense gets you to the playoffs, defense gets you through the playoffs. Thats how I've seen it over the past few seasons.

I don't know, other than the two Giants/Patriots Super Bowls, they all seem to be pretty high scoring shootouts. You could also add the New Orleans Super Bowl win in the defensive category as well.

I really hope the Steelers/Patriots/Colts dominance in the AFC is over. Obviously the Colts are going through a change with Manning gone. Since Super Bowl 38 those 3 have been the only teams to play for the AFC in the big game. There's been 8 to play for the NFC since then.

You have to remember the Arizona/Steelers SB also, with James Harrison stealing points away from the Cards and getting a TD before the half. That game went from possibly being 14-10 Cards at the half to 17-7 Steelers because of that play.

I couldn't agree more. The NFC right now is a stacked conference. I'd probably bet on the NFC taking the Superbowl title again next year.

Packers
Giants
Saints
Panthers
Falcons
49ers
Bears
Eagles
Lions

The AFC, though, only has:

Patriots (no depth)
Steelers (talent aging)
Ravens (talent aging)
Texans
Broncos

If the Saints end up permanently replacing Sean Payton, do they have to adhere to the Rooney Rule? And if they do, does that constitute "coffee" with Tony Dungy?

The scary thing is, in that a few seasons, the NFC will be even more stacked. Washington will finally have a QB, Saint Louis will be a threat unless they manage to screw up the millions of draft picks the skins gave up, then there is Seattle, a team that Tavaris Jackson led to a .500 season with a pretty good upgrade at QB if you ask me. The NFC is going to be fun to watch next year.

Does having coffee with Tony Dungy mean you've complied with the Rooney Rule?

Rams won't get that much better on offense if Justin Blackmon doesn't get to them at 6. They need a deep threat at WR and I believe that Blackmon won't get past Cleveland. Unless the Rams trade up to #3 ahead of Cleveland to take Blackmon, they will probably draft LSU CB Morris Claiborne, who would be a good addition to the defense opposite Cortland Finnegan.

Trent Richardson would make no sense for the Rams. At #6, Michael Floyd and Kendall Wright are reaches, but if they move down into the teens or 20's, they can get either one of them and it would be a good pick.

Aside from just showing up for the first round of the playoffs...I'm not sure the Falcons belong up there....even with teams like the Eagles.

Falcons don't have Mularkey or Van Gorder anymore, so that's 2 steps in the right direction. Getting rid of Lofton, who is a great LB, to the Saints has me scratching my head though. Why give one of your only good defensive players to your biggest rival?
