I NEVER pick human if I'm given other options. Rattataki and Mirialan were my go-to's in this game.

I played this a few weeks ago, and it sucked as bad as I thought it would! I could do EVERYTHING solo, and everyone didn't wanna talk, or help. It just one big giant mess, and deleted it two days after I played it. =/ I had more fun with Shadowbane for 5 years on and off than I did this in two days.

So much for big money behind it, and this is a horrible idea on top of a badly designed game already. KoToR 3 please!

SWTOR lead dev addresses free-to-play concerns

Star Wars: The Old Republic players are checking out the game's potential free-to-play changes on the test server, and serious concerns about some of the restrictions have prompted a response from BioWare.

Lead Designer Damion Schubert wrote a lengthy forum post to state that the team's been observing the test server and has decided to make a few changes to the F2P restrictions. In particular, free players will now get two quickbars instead of one, can experience five PvP warzones a week instead of three, and will find the temporary lock timer for items bought in the cash shop reduced.

Schubert said that a more detailed post is incoming; it will spell out details for preferred status players, who include any former subscribers to the game. He also addressed the controversy over the store selling endgame mod crystals to low- and mid-level characters by explaining that it will not unbalance the game: "We're still philosophically avoiding putting any stat advantage at this level that subscribers cannot earn through reasonable normal play."

EA's Moore on SWTOR: 'Price was always the issue'

Wired has a new interview with Electronic Arts COO Peter Moore that touches on just about every facet of the games industry.

The former Microsoft exec talks at length about his Xbox days, Zynga, mobile gaming, digital vs. retail, the PC renaissance and how it may affect both consoles and hand-held devices, and of course the impending free-to-play conversion for Star Wars: The Old Republic.

"Price was always the issue," Moore says. Former customers often said "I just didn't want to pay $15 a month. I felt kind of locked in. I love the game, but I'm locked in, and for a lot of people 15 bucks a month is a lot of money."

Well, all this Disney/Star Wars talk has got me back in the mood to play this game. I don't have a subscription right now, so I'll wait these remaining days till it goes free-to-play.

Having not played KOTOR - or any MMO, really Ė I enjoy TOR. Itís not the greatest game in the world, but if Iíve got a couple hours to kill, or am suffering from insomnia, hoping online to play is fun. Iíve found that most of the storylines take too long to really get rolling (around levels 25-30), but I wouldnít call the game a disappointment. Iím not a huge MMO player (obviously) but Iím finding my first experience to be a good one.

hmm...I do not think they really realize what a F2P system is...they seem to be going more towards a "free trial" of a sorts more than a F2P system. I think they're confused.

Limiting the races you play really pissed me off when I read it. What even is this point of that?

The point is that you can level from 1 to 50 and do your class story ( fully ) and it is free.
If you want more race choice, you pay a small fee.

It is what "we" call : Freemium, free http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freemium

You can complete the story with all 8 classes, it is not a trial.

I'm glad this went F2P. Yeah, there are a ton of restrictions, but now I can get my Star Wars fix every once in a while. I'm not a dedicated MMO player. I only play from time to time with long periods of breaks, so any kind of subscription would have been a waste of money.

I started playing this a few months ago when it went free to play up to level 15, but when I came further into the game and moving to more populated planets and places my computer couldn't handle it. I'm in the process of buying a new pc soon so I can get back into it.

Look at Guild WArs 2 for how to do a good free to play model.

What exactly are the restrictions in Guild Wars 2 and what are the things you can pay for? This game really has restrictions through the roof. You can't whisper to anyone until you reach lvl10. Once you reach lvl10, the exp you earn is reduced. You can't earn gear in Flashpoint Missions. Quest loot is also restricted. War Zones are off limits until you sub or buy a season pass. You aren't even allowed to change your user title unless you pay. Artifact Gear can't be equipped.

I really don't know how GW2 is doing it, but even DCUO felt less restricted. But I shouldn't complain. I just play from time to time and try to mainly go through the main story. I treat this as KOTOR3.

GW2 has no restrictions.... you buy it you own it... no sub required. Oh how I love it!

Asides from the really annoying and unnecessary restrictions in some areas that seem sort of pointless. This is a really fun game.

I play it as a simple RPG with 8 great stories. Too bad it is a subpar MMO.

I logged in with my lvl30+ Sith Warrior. He had some super ugly mouth guard on I didn't recognize. So I tried to hide the head gear again. I have to pay 4-5 bucks for the option.

I hope they change some of the stuff with future updates. Why doesn't everyone follow the Guild Wars 2 formula? Is in GW2 really everything free? And no restrictions whatsoever? For example, what about money? Is there like a level cap, let's say at 10,000, and any additional money you earn goes into an escrow account?

The cash shop in Guild Wars 2 has faster leveling and cosmetic things, character slots (start with 5) that sort of thing.

Also... gems can be bought with in game money so if you want something from the cash shop you can get it without spending real money if you so wish.
