Honestly the one thing I am looking forward to the most in the sequel is watching Cinna get beaten to death.

It was the most emotional part of the second book for me and I hope they keep it for the movie.

some really don't know any better, as it's been going on almost 75 years so they've never known any different. many just care about the entertainment value (i like to compare it to the mojoverse in that they want the ratings and people to watch)

Quote:
Besides, wouldn't it be just as effective and more entertaining to choose young adults (18 to 21 year olds)?

But what's the point? It's like when WWE/WWF wrestling programs used to show an hour of squash jobs between Superstars and Jobbers. Gets really dull really quick.
they want the districts to know that no one is safe and that anyone can be pulled in. the capital doesn't really care who goes in as long as they get their show and the bloodshed

Quote:
The part about the districts gaining food & favor for winning should have been included in the movie. There was a vague mention of winning "wealth and glory", but little elaboration on that part. And there was no mention at all of Districts 1 & 2 supporting Capitol City.

While they did make it clear in the movie that anyone could volunteer to take another's place, they also say that Districts 1 & 2 do so EVERY year (and then only after having studied martial and survival skills from the age of 5). That not only gives them a training advantage, but also a garanteed size and strength advantage over younger sacrifices. Why don't other Districts get the same advantage? Sure, the older kids can volunteer in other districts too, but they still lack years of training.
the districts closer to the capital are more in their favor and reap more of the rewards. they're also the richer districts due to what they offer (gold, technology, power, etc) the poorer districts can't really afford to let their kids go to school at times, let alone an academy to learn to fight for the death. many are working already. it's left out of the movie for instance, but rue worked in an apple orchard because she could get up high in the trees so easily and help

Quote:
That part should have been made more clear in the movie. As I said before, they made a vague mention of the winners gaining "wealth and glory". But then they mentioned that the kids would be "living in luxury while they're in Capitol City, but only temporarily".

And are the rest of the winners families exempt from participating in future draws? Seems to me, that would be a major motivating factor for the participants. Especially those with younger siblings.
no one is exempt unless they reach a certain age or have already gone in...

the participants don't really have any motivation except to survive/ knowing that their family gets food/necessities for a while. i'll agree in that maybe the tesserae and what the winners get probably could've been mentioned a little better but i think it will in the next film.

Finnick Odair down to Three Actors
Quote:

A source tells us at that the top three names being bantered about right now are Armie Hammer, Taylor Kitsch and Garrett Hedlund.
The source also says that a final decision from the studio may be announced as early as this week.
However, another source says the studio may also be looking at unknowns à la Brad Pitt in Thelma & Louise.
Filming is scheduled to begin in the fall with Francis Lawrence taking over the directing reigns from Gary Ross.
Catching Fire will be released on Nov. 22, 2013.

All three actors come with star status. Hammer will next be seen playing the title role in the Lone Ranger flick opposite Johnny Depp as Tonto. Tron Legacy's Hedlund was also a big Cannes Film Festival headline with the premiere of On The Road with Kristen Stewart and Kirsten Dunst while Kitsch can currently be seen in Battleship.
Reps for the three did not comment.
A Lionsgate rep said, "As with the first film, we won't be confirming, denying or commenting on any casting rumors for this title. We will announce news wide when there is official casting news to announce."
http://www.eonline.com/news/marc_mal...rss_topstories
I'd go with Hammer since he actually has charisma and range and is a superior actor than the other 2

Hedlund's an awful actor. I hated him in Tron Legacy. I'd go with Kitsch or Hammer.

That sounds like a fake list because no way in hell does box office disaster Taylor Kitsch get such a plump role in a huge franchise like this one.

Some people like him because they liked his performance on the Friday Night Lights. I understand people rooting for actors they like and wishing them a great career, I mean god knows I rooted on Chris Evans and I'm happy that he is finally getting his due.

That being said, my problem is that I thought that Kitsch was bland in his small role in Wolverine, terrible and miscast in John Carter and bad in Battleship. He isn't a leading man and doesn't have the charisma to lead action films so Hollywood and his agent should just stop.

He's the Alex Pettyfer of this year. They kept pushing him into big movies that failed. The biggest issues is that he needed a few more supporting movies roles in order to boost his popularity. Instead he went straight to the lead big budgeted blockbusters. That was the same problem Hedlund had and that's why Tron Legacy struggled at the box office. They need to build his starpower up like Jeremy Renner had his built up.

Don't even get me started on the extremely untalented Pettyfer...That should have never happened.

I agree with your point though. Hollywood is trying to push actors into the big leagues in an unnatural way and are being bitten in the ass by doing it. Those actors need to pay their dues before they lead 200mil pictures.

Reminds me of when Julia Roberts expressed a distaste for the way Hollywood takes young actors puts them in lead roles and if it works great if it doesn't then everyone blames the actor when it really is Hollywoods fault. She said they weren't getting the experience needed to lead these flicks and it's not their fault that's just the way Hollywood is working now.

Hammer's the best actor out of those three, so I'm rooting for him. I'd be fine with Hedlund, but I don't want to see Kitsch in the role.

Hammer or Hedlund por favor

Kitsch doesn't look like the beach boy type and he doesn't have that glint in his eye that i see in Hammer and Hedlund that I feel like Finnick has

What horrible choices. It's like they purposefully sought out my 3 least-favorite "It Boys" in Hollywood right now. Pettyfer would have made The 4. I hope it falls through with all of them, because I can't even choose a "lesser of the evils" here, lol.

I only say no to Hedlund because I want him as Danny Rand for Iron Fist. And who said he was a bad actor? Did you not see his thing at Cannes this year?
