It's not a desperate move by Ferrell. He has been trying to make this movie for years.

Great news! I'm glad Paramount & Farrell were able to iron out their differences and make it happen.

He's been trying to get a sequel greenlit for years now. I don't think it's desperate at all. The fans have been wanting a second film for so long. I'm just glad we're finally getting it. I also wouldn't mind a Talladega Nights sequel as well.

I don't think its desperation from Will Ferrell. Anchorman is hugely popular in the UK. It probably Will Farrell's most well known movie over here and everytime his in the UK people constantly ask him about a sequel.

He said he gets asked it alot in other contries too since the first movies release and has always said he would like to do a sequel if the they could work something out with the studio.

I welcome a sequel but I still think its a shame that the rumoured Ferrel Knightrider spoof never came to a fruition [this was before the tv show from a few years back]; I would've loved to see Will aping Hassellhoff's acting style and look. Will's Garth Knight would have been even more hilarious.

like with Indiana Jones 4 and Star Wars prequels in the 90's ?

those actors changed. the first movie is perfect.

There ARE desperate sequels out there. This isn't one of them. It comes from the heart. So go back to whore-island.

Dunno about this. I'm very, VERY cynical about comedy sequels.

In fact, can anybody think of one that's worth a damn?

Touche.

But above all other genre's, Comedy is still the one that doesn't led itself to followups well.

Yeah it's very rare for comedy sequels to do well. Then again most sequels have trouble living up to the first film.

Ferrell and company have wanted to make this for years. The first film wasn't exactly a good movie (an entertaining one, but not a good one), so the sequel shouldn't have much to live up to. This is fantastic news.

Sorry JustaBill, but I have to agree with JJJ. Ferrel and mcKay were denied again and again for the past 6 years. For reasons I still don't know!

Ill be on board but how much salary will rudd and carrell demand? I hope applegate doesnt come back because she really dragged the first one down when she was on screen. I would be all for mila kunis if they had to get a female.

I thought Christina was good but I've felt that a comedianne like Amy Poeler or Tina Fey could have been better for the first film.

I'd rather a Zoolander sequel with Mugatu in it.
