Characters you'd like to see in future Avengers movies?

Great Lakes Avengers would be fun as an animated movie, especially with all the post Avengers movie buzz. Young Avengers would definitely be cool! I have a feeling Disney wouldn't be interested in having an out gay couple in a superhero film though.

West Coast is virtually indistinguishable from East Coast. West Coast was an official branch of THE Avengers, and all its membership carried over to the main group. Iron Man, Hank Pym, Wasp, Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, Vision, Hawkeye, Wonder Man, Tigra, Mockingbird, War Machine, Moon Knight, Firebird, Spider-Woman, US Agent.....yup, their papers all check out.

Al Milgrom's art was terrible. I far preferred the art in the mini series by Bob Hall and Brett Breeding.

That art was pretty suspect and what can you say or do about Master Pandemonium other than.

Yeah, loved Hall's work - especially his Squadron Supreme stuff (the Hyperion vs Hyperion battle was one of the best illustrated 'Supermen' battles I think I've ever seen) and his Emperor Doom one-shot was great too.

But who inked Hall in that? Was it Breeding? He really made Hall's work shine, especially in West Coast Avengers. His Iron Man was quite similar to Bob Layton but for some reason he never got to work on Shellhead's book. Breeding would've been awesome on it.

By contrast, Milgrom's Iron Man, especially the Silver Centurion armour, was absolutely appalling. It wasn't helped by Joe Sinnott's inks. It often looked like a child drew it.

Milgrom's art just didn't suit a West Coast California feel whereas Hall's fitted perfectly.

Agreed. I don't like the whole East Coast and West Coast Avengers thing. The Avengers are meant to be a global response team. The whole EC WC thing meant their jurisdiction was pretty much just America which is pretty boring if you're a fan from outside there.

Couldn't they be a global response team with bases in several US states? Just like Stark Enterprises has an office in New York and in California, or how the CIA aren't just based solely at Langley.

Uh... definitely not "West Coast Avengers" as a separate team or organization. The Avengers get split into two teams, and Fury might flippantly call the team dispatched to LA the "West Coast Avengers." Good times had by all, no need for a second rate team.

You did indeed suggest such a thing. It seemed as though you thought half-butting it was sufficient because the audience has accepted crazy things that weren't half-baked.

I don't think they were ever a separate team or organisation. It was all centralised, worked to the same Avengers Charter and they conferred back and forth and exchanged information, but of course you have to leave them to carry out their own missions as well instead of needing to oversee and micromanage every little detail.

Are the CIA in California a separate team or organisation from Langley? No. They abide by the same rules and are ultimately answerable to the head, but they're not all like separate little franchises working independently of one another.

The idea is that the time it takes for one response team to get to a certain location is cut down if there is a nearer response team. It's just like the police have more than one squad car patrolling the streets, but then they put out a call from the precinct to all units in the vicinity.

I don't think I would like a police metaphor, as there isn't constant Avengers-level threats in the MCU. Having Avengers on-call that don't need to be assembled cheapens it a bit. In the comics where everything's cheap, that's cool, but I can't get down with that for the movies.

I think "West Coast Avengers" deserves a funny line like "Life Model Decoy" and not much more.

I don't think there's any need for a West Coast Avengers movie, ever, but I was pointing out that the WCA are *official* Avengers, and not a joke outfit, like Great Lakes Avengers was.

WCA were created back in the 1980s as a way to drum up readership, to freshen up a stale Avengers franchise, and to expand the Marvel Universe outside the crowded confines of Superhero City, NYC. I don't think there's any need for that in the MCU, for awhile, at least. Marvel Studios has the opportunity to create a NEW canon where the team is already international, instead of trying to cram them all into a New York-centric universe.

I definitely want to see Black Panther added eventually. All of the already announced heroes I won't mention, since they're definitely coming, but Black Panther is a must for me eventually.

Also, Dr. Strange would be good, but not on the Avengers. He should be around in the background, but not on the Avengers (I'd rather him form the Defenders to take away a couple of the characters in the Avengers to make it easier to develop them, like the Hulk). I would like to see Spider-Man borrowed from Sony, or even Spider-Woman. Vision is another must eventually. And...She-Hulk would be kinda fun.
