Kevin Feige promises 2015 Marvel Cinematic Event

The Avengers (Set Visit) = 1st Video (12:53) Kevin Feige hinted at leading up to a big event movie in 2015.

This is pretty much in line with things I've read in the past. Though from the way I've read things, both Avengers and Avengers 2 would lead up to the giant 3rd one. Hopefully they still plan to do a trilogy.

My only concern is that they will loose sight of the solo movies.

As long as they stay true to the core of the solo films I think they'll be fine making event movies every 3-4 years.

2015 is possible

I mean they literally have to start pre-production May 8th (ie once they are guaranteed avengers is a hit) but I mean they only started filing this Avengers movie in April.....you really only need about a year to film and edit a movie if your game is as tight as Whedon/Fiege/Marvel's was on this project

I don't think 2015 is THE big event but I think he just means it will be a big event that will bring the avengers back together again.

well, anytime the avengers get together its a big event, Generally speaking

But starting with the avengers, from everything I've read and interpreted it will lay the seeds for future films that is supposed to culminate in a movie bigger than both avengers 1 and 2 that will be in 2017(avengers 3 - most of which believe it will be Thanos, the big bad of all big bads as far as enemies go).

Of course, it could be something completely out of left field, I mean its 5 years away, but that is the general consensus it seems at this point in time

But Avengers 2 and 3 needs to done before the actors move on to other things or become unavailable.

Maybe I'm reading too much into this stuff but to me it seems like that what they are doing with the Avengers is making it into its own franchise while still tying it to the solo movies? Joss said that the script was written so that no one really needed to see the solo films

Yeah, wasn't RDJ's original picture deal for 4 movies? This would be the third, and IM3 would be the 4th.. if they plan on using their MCU golden boy for all of the Avengers he better get a new deal done soon.

I think that's the way he approached it as far as introducing each character individually into the film, so it serves as an introduction for the people who didn't see the lead-ins, but if something happens to someone in this film, it will shift over to their solo movie due to the shared universe..

so in IM3 if tony loses his arm(hypothetically) come the next avengers movie, tony won't have an arm.....the regular joe who just watches the avengers movies by themselves won't have a clue as to why tony is armless... (horrible example, i know, but its the first thing that came to mind)

It looks like we will be getting IM3 and Thor 2 in 2013
and Cap America 2 in 2014
and Avengers 2 in 2015

I think a lot of the other characters they want to do wont come until after Avengers 2 maybe?

If the movies take two years(maybe 3), then the likely progression would be 2017 to possibly 2018 after A2 in 2015.

The "Avengers finale in 2017" comment came from an insider here.

Although Feige (or someone at Marvel) themselves said that they would be building to something for 2017. So when you reconcile all three comments, the conclusion seems to be Avengers 2 in 2015 and Avengers 3 in 2017.

Let's just hope the finale is just this current arc they are building...I hope they continue making avengers films as long as possible. With building the MCU like they are they have the perfect vehicle for it.

As long as Fox and Sony had absolutely NO input to the movie, casting, director and crew..letting Marvel run the show...I'd be down. Only thing FOX and SONY should have to do with the film is giving marvel the access to the characters and seeing FOX and SONY right before marvel when the show starts.

That would the conditions.
